Going to be honest. I realize it takes a lot to keep a zoo operating from feed to running the gift shop not to mention possible help with money by means of grants or donations but this place was sad. I have been to many zoos in my lifetime all over this world. The animals here were tired and depressed. The giraffe was upset we ran out of lettuce and was making body motions to us as if we were not cool bc we didn't have more. The other animals laid around and just looked so sad. The grounds weren't that tidy. I saw cups and even beer cans thrown into the water the alligators lived. And the area by the flamingos . The lions went crazy at one point with there vocals expressions to all of us. I watched them from a far and witnessed employees say to the public how never did they hear the lions sound this way. They seemed over crowded. It definitely was a cry for something. It was very sad to watch. It was the day of my kids school field trip so yes there were tons of others running and being stir crazy. I can't imagine how this feels to all these animals if people came to where I lived. The place is small and just didn't even have a calm and good feel to it. I am not an idiot and I realize a lot that goes on in this environment. I just wish the animals looked like they were happy. Or were even alive. If they were awake they were hungry. Between the turtles, bunnies, goats, and alligators not sure which we re going to have for lunch they were all trying hard to get food from us. The area of swamp type of environments smelled too. I don't know if they could fix this but it isn't pleasant at all. I know they have to use the restroom too but this could have been somehow figured out for the public. I know some good employees work hard here so please don't take my words to heart. I just wish there were more areas to see these animals move and be happy. They all seemed upset. AND not wanting to be there. It...
Read moreI haven't been to this zoo in many many years. My oldest son takes us there on a mother/son date. The price to get in is typical and the price for feed is typical just not all worth it. There were things we LOVED and there were things that made us so sad. First, getting to hold the baby kangaroo was worth the money, second we absolutely loved the bird sanctuary and how they tickled when they land on you and nip at the sweat on your neck lol and there were some other beautiful things we saw as well as mating season for the gators and apparently the lions lol. However, while waiting for the baby roo we took a look at the reptiles and a couple snakes looked as though they weren't alive, not breathing and then one little greet lizard broke my heart and was scratching to get out and rubbing its head back and forth on the glass smearing some slime. The last thing that broke my heart was the tiger. I'm not sure if it was hot or wanting out or all of the above but it was panting bad and all it did for at least 20min straight was pace back and forth the same path and only had a small amount of water to which I imagine was hot at that time of day. The biggest disappointment was the giraffe. Paid to feed it lettuce and that's literally all that happened lol. It walked up, took my lettuce from my hand then disappeared. I get you can't control animals but don't charge so much for a piece of lettuce. I could've bought a few heads of lettuce for the price of literally one leaf of lettuce. Not worth it I wouldn't recommend spending the money to feed the giraffe. You can still see it without having to pay to feed just fyi. I'm sure we will go back at some point but after what we saw and cried after we left I don't think it will be anytime soon. The staff, the ones we met were all super sweet and...
Read moreAnimals enclosures are disgusting and haven’t been cleaned in god knows how long. Animals forced to lay in week(s) old dried poop. The flamingos had NO WATER, literally dry. The tiger and lion are underweight and are bored in their cage the size of a tiny apartment. The water animals did have was slimy green and could tell it’s not been cleaned. Hardly any shade for the animals and most of the fans were broken. 10/10 don’t recommend and I hope they get shut down life Gulf World! These animals should be transported to an actual zoo where they can be cared for properly. The animals look miserable and tired. And after reading many other bad reviews I can tell I’m not alone in this. Before I get a sassy comment back from whoever runs zooworlds Google reviews, just save it. I’ve read your responses and you beat around the bush not really caring about the animals. You can’t convince me these animals are happy or well taken care of.
Update because zooworld wants to clap back! Your responses prove that the people in these reviews are right! Butt hurt because we are calling out zooworld for mistreating the animals! It’s funny I’m not the only one leaving such reviews. Why did the flamingos have zero water?? Why is the tiger in an enclosure the size of a small apartment and so underweight? The reptiles enclosures or pitiful and not up to the standard they should be. I have better sets up in home and that’s ridiculous compared to a zoo claiming to put “money back into the enclosures”. Disgusting! Again, you should be shut down just like gulf world! It will happen eventually. You’re a sad excuse for a zoo and the animals...
