My wife created a monster: she suggested to our sons that we go to a drive-in movie--and both my sons love it now. For me, it's great to just tailgate (we bring snacks from home and pickup pizza or burgers nearby) prior to the movie starting (I got to explain "magic hour" to our kids one evening waiting for the movie to start). This is not the cleanest place (bathrooms are cleaned regularly however) but let's be honest: your watching a movie in a parking lot. Just look before you step though as they let dogs in. Otherwise, you get the classic drive-in experience. As for the projection quality, it's very good and if you do sit in your car and keep your radio going they claim the radio signal is "Dolby Digital": on my decade+ old Zune's radio connected to a JBL Flip 4 speaker the sound is very clear and plenty of bass. If you've never been to a drive-in before, recommend you bring your own radio hooked up to a speaker for best sound and to avoid having to keep your car on (this is a pain with newer cars that automatically shut off if "Drive" is not engaged over a certain amount of time). If your smartphone has an FM radio app that works also. We've gone on the weekdays and it's pretty mellow then - can't speak to what the weekends are like....as for "kid friendly" it is for the most part if your watching a kids film, but even then I've smelled the aroma of herb, if you get my drift. Not hating on it as a CBD/THC user myself but I don't smoke it. Just be aware that is a distinct possibility. There's a security patrol that generally does its job. That said, as you would at any public venue be situationally aware especially for the late cars pulling in: make sure the see you by flashing a flashlight or smartphone light. Overall my family and I have a relaxing time here, so bottom line I recommend this drive-in -- there are fewer and fewer of them in the age of streaming so get to one...
Read moreJust returned from the Paramount Drive In Theater. What a rude experience. In our truck were told to only park in a certain area. I understand that, however after moving from several spots do to all the SUV hatch backs up our view was blocked. I guess thats why the spots were open. We finally moved to the end of the row. No one in front of us and we were not blocking anyone behind us. Here come the patrol and ask us to move because we were in the wrong row. Mind you we weren't blocking anyone and we had to watch the movie from an angle from that spot. After telling the attendent we would move when they go tell all the SUVs to lower their hatch backs. It is written on their website the rules of the theater and no hatch backs fully open. They refused to tell the SUVs to lower their hatch backs. Said they couldn't do that. It was their right to have them open. So its not our right to park where we were which was across the isle from the Truck parking. Needless to say management came. Still wouldn't do anything. By this time we missed the first 30 minutes of the movie. After all is said and done we left. Got our money back, spoke to the person in charge. Got no where. She said we were the only ones complaining about the Hatchbacks...mind you we never complained we just moved till we were ask to move from the row we were in. We got the supervisors phone number. I am pretty sure that will get us no where. I am also pretty sure we were the only whites among a whole theater of Hispanics. Who really care but it was by far a double standard judgement on their part. We are going to file a written complaint. We got our money back so I guess that makes it OK? Needless to say we probably will not return. PARAMOUNT DRIVE IN HAS DOUBLE STANDARDS. ...
Read moreThis place is ridiculous! They are hemorrhaging money by the minute and in desperate need of an upgrade in management and possibly even overall business operations. First, the traffic flow is just down right idiotic and is literally the gateway to the chaos. There is no direction and the idea of merging 3 lanes plus a crossing lane into one is ludicrous! This coupled with the lack of an adequate number of ticket salespeople is only the beginning of the madness. After you navigate you way through this (Charlie Foxtrot) you then meet a ticket booth where you have to purchase your entry using a credit card machine from what seemed like the 80s with the amount of time it took. This plus the fact that each of the young ladies selling the tickets are trying to work two lanes at once, creates a delay of up to an hour which leaves a line of hundreds of cars proceeding at a snail's pace long after the movie starts. And all of this just to finally get to your turn and be told the movie is sold out! Wow! I counted 97 cars that jumped out of line before and after me (and this didn't include the hundreds of cars remaining in line after I finally left) which means at $10 per adult, this place lost at a minimum $1000 in business because of the chaos. Please, do yourself a favor and get some new management. Someone who maybe understand basic traffic flow, is willing to front the money for adequate staffing, and uses technology from this millennium because until you do; I, like I'm sure many of the other customers who were robbed of our time tonight,...
