I am not sure if this is an example of distasteful irony or simply hypocrisy, but it is at least mildly offensive that this city has this quote on display. The city of Alhambra is a place that exemplifies the deterioration of American ideals, where instead of vigilantly defending freedom, it sacrifices personal freedom for the sake of an illusory sense of security.
To qualify my preceding criticism, Alhambra is a city whose police department is one that is partnered with Amazon to share customers’ Ring data. Granted, informed customers can opt out of buying a Ring, but these partnerships were not initially shared with the public – and they are certainly not heavily advertised now. It is tragic that a country founded on such admirable ideals is unlikely to ever realize them due to the stupidity, greed, and cowardice that plague this nation.
The only material danger in Alhambra is the risk of being hit by one of the countless drivers that shamelessly run red lights. Given the negligible level of violent crime, the highly compensated police force should focus on reckless drivers rather than infringe on our right to a reasonable expectation of privacy for an insignificant gain in security. If, at any time, my security camera footage would help solve a crime, put in the effort to ask me for it or get a warrant.
On a positive note, the workout area is excellent! Whoever designed it should...
Read moreAlhambra Park is a wonderful place full of children’s laughter and screams of excitement. Families gather here and couples stroll beneath the shade of ancient trees. I wholeheartedly believe that parks are designed to be used by the public so there’s nothing more wonderful than seeing families able to enjoy the day. I think the sounds of children playing add to the peaceful atmosphere. This is a nice park that’s community focused and well landscaped with a summer food service program and activities for children of all ages. This is a big space with a splash pad and swimming pool; it even has a small concert stage for live music and movies on the weekends. And most importantly it’s dog friendly with lots of open areas for family picnics with covered tables for children’s birthday parties. The park has a network of walking paths, inviting visitors to exercise and enjoy the surroundings in a safe and...
Read moreNice park located a few blocks behind Aldi's/Target. Parking is horrendous when kids are off school or people going on their walks. Busy time keeps changing and the table and benches MUST be rented out to the city's parks and rec in advance. Multiple parties can be held here though I would not suggest it since it can get overcrowded and uncomfortable.
This location has a playground, tennis or basketball court (I forgot which one), swimming pool (closed at the moment due to COVID), kid's water zone (currently open though I don't know if they will keep it open cos of rising cases again), and a whole lot of grass to lay on.
Sometimes the Alhambra Civic Center Library's Bookmobile will visit this park for people to borrow books. If you don't have a library card with them, they can create one for you on the spot. Most of the books are for young children since the adults usually don't...
