Located inside Langham Pasadena, this spa and nail salon is a very zen and relaxing place excellent for day of pampering and regeneration.
The spa is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine of harmonizing your five elements. The decor represents Chinese culture philosophy of well being throughout: Soft colors. Moon Gate entrance to dressing rooms, dim lighting and trickling fountain in spa area, candle lit walkway to locker rooms, dream room with Chinese lanterns, calming art, side table of flowers and bed.
There are hydration stations in all areas of spa with dried fruit and sliced almonds. Flowers, candles. Plush pastel robes with their logo stitched on back. There is dimly lit sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Shower with their products. Plenty of clean towels. Lockers.
They offer limited Lifestyle Menu of salads, soup, appetizers, wrap sandwiches, burgers. You may order food and dine outside. There is up to 45 minute wait so plan ahead. Hotel restaurants are closed from 2-5, but if you miss the cut off to order from spa, you can get service at The Terrace at pool. On your birthday, champagne and truffles are included with your treatment.
Hotel pool access is not included with massage. However, the package I bought was for massage and pool pass on return visit.
Treatments offered here are 60 or 90 minute sessions: Neck back and shoulder massage, acupressure balancing or harmony massage, hot stone therapy (90 minutes only) as well as traditional Swedish and Deep tissue massages. They also offer maternity massage.
I was very pleased with my experience here. My therapist was skilled, gentle but firm in my stress areas and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I arrived a little anxious, and left totally relaxed and feeling balanced. It is definitely a place I will return to again for different massage.
Chuan Spa prefers that you do not use your cell phone during your visit. You may take photos of any areas in the spa but treatment area. Their philosophy is that there are photos of these areas on their website, and that if you wish to remember it you may see it there.
The hotel offers valet parking, but spa has its own parking lot...
Read moreI am rating just on facilities l, as I did not get a treatment. I travel to spas often and plan to spend all day. The facility area is very, very tiny with a whirlpool half l-blocked with a disability chair, sauna, and steam room. There is 1, only 1, relaxation chair. No tea, only water. It is clean though. Ample bathrooms and showers, with amenities. My biggest complaint, which usually is my biggest complaint, is lack of spa etiquette and lack of enforcement. It was loud. Very loud. No indoor voices used. One particularly obnoxious woman was screaming. The spa is not for extroverts to get their social on. It is for introvert who just want you to shut up. For once. The vibe is set though as the workers give their facility tours at full volume and no one tells anyone to please stop talking, or to whisper. If you must talk, for everyone else, whisper. I debated a treatment, but at almost $400 for a 90 minute massage, I’m glad I did not as the rest was disappointing. I’ll hit the korean...
