Signed up at this location on Monday with Ted and finished off with Jerry. Both of the men were very helpful and Informative. I Had an appointment for the next day at 9 AM to meet with the trainer. Which would have been Antonio but I was bumped down From 9 AM to 4 PM and I have a full busy schedule being a business owner and a child that plays for AAU. Antonio gave me the runaround all day never had the 4 o’clock appointment because he was in traffic coming from Long Beach which is very unprofessional. So I canceled my contract yesterday and I paid in cash. I spoke with Ian The manager in person and I explained to him the situation and that I signed up with another gym because of the unprofessionalism of Antonio. Ian Explain to me that I need to get in contact with Carla to get my refund back because it hadn’t been a full 24 hours yet and he wasn’t sure if the deposit was made with cash yet. so I called Carla and explain to her the situation and instead Carla tells me that I have to get a check in the mail and I paid cash. So I was trying to explain to Carla that I would like it in writing Carla was very rude very disrespectful and she cut me off and said it doesn’t matter you’re going to get a check anyway. So I went back to the lake location and I spoke with Carla she still was rude very disrespectful slammed the paper on top of the table and just dismiss me. So I spoke with the manager Ian again and when I told him what Carla did he kind of talked over it as if I never said anything about what Carla just did. So I say Cool and I just got the information and names and I’m sending them a one star review which should be a negative star review because they are not professional at all at that facility. And if you’re working a job to feed yourself you should not have a terrible nasty attitude Carla. I do not recommend signing up for this...
Read moreSo, it's about time now to make this review. I have been membership for about 6 years now, but for this location I have been going to it for almost 4 months now. I met first with Chuck, an amazing guy, who understood what I needed, and he did introduced me to Matthew, who became my personal trainer in LA Finiteness. In my head, when I started to have personal training session, I thought they would see me as just a number to generate LA Fitness more money, but when Matthew started working with me, and correct my moves all the times, and kept following up with me, even when I'm not at the gym, it felt more like a personal relationship. Matthew is an amazing person and trainer, he wants you to succeed, he will keep pushing you for more, always. One time I didn't got the chance to eat before going to the gym, and he did notice that, so beofre the next session he texted me to remind me to eat, not only that, he asked what you will be eating, and eat this and do that. Even when I'm out of twon, he's reaching out to make sure that I'm doing good with my food, and the workout he prepared me to do by my own. Yes big gym corporations always is about money, but when you're having a good management, and good people working there, it will will make you feel more appreciated than just being a number. Chuck always in touch with me, he keeps following my progress and keep encouraging me to do more as well, keep asking me if there is anything I need to change or if there is something bother me in the gym. Matthew always prepared for me for a different and new workout, he makes sure I'm eating good, and doing the right things not to hurt myself. I really appreciate you both Chuck and Matthew, and I hope that corporations reach out to me, because I can't thank them enough for having...
Read moreThe gym actually looks really nice with decent equipment. If you deadlift this might not be the best place since they only have hexagonal plates. Also their water fountains aren’t the best. It always had some sort of chemical taste to it.
Alright now for why I gave this place a 1 star rating. I started coming to this gym because one of my friends wanted to start working out and this was the closest LA Fitness. I already had a membership for 4 months now and we came 30 minutes early for the registration so that we would have a decent amount of time to workout. My friend wanted to try out the free 14 day free trial before he got the membership so I signed him up with my membership for the trial, and we went to the front desk who sent us to Alex, the sales manager. For some reason, he just didn’t want to give us the membership. He was polite at first and he gave us a tour around the gym and the facilities, but when we got back to his office, he started pushing my friend to buy a membership. My friend was already planning on it but through Boeing since they have a program for gym memberships. Alex was starting to get aggressive once he found out that my friend was just here for the trial. He started insulting my friend and both of our parents. He started talking about how LA Fitness is a business and that they need to make money. It’s obvious that he doesn’t really care about our fitness and that he is only in it for the money. Anyway that whole thing took an hour before he gave my friend the trial. Then they didn’t even tell us about validated parking so we had to pay $15 for it.
TLDR; the front desk people are nice, avoid the sales team ESPECIALLY Alex, the gym facilities are pretty good, and the water fountains taste...
