Don't waste your time with this restaurant. My family and I dined at Green Street for brunch(on 1/13), celebrating both my husband's and step-daughter's birthday. I had requested a table/booth in the corner. Instead they gave us one right by the door. Ugh. It took A LONG time to be able to place our order. Once it was placed, the food came in a fairly timely manner, with the pancakes that both my husband and I ordered nice and hot. HOWEVER, the syrup was stone cone and NO WAY would we EVER put COLD syrup on hot pancakes. So, I tried to flag a server down as ours was NO WHERE to be seen. Not only did a few who looked right at me, turned their head, one of the managers who I asked to get our server right away, did not even ask what was wrong. He could have taken care of the problem himself, instead he went into the kitchen where he told our server and it took her another FIVE minutes to come see us. By then, our NICE & HOT pancakes were only warm. She proceeded to tell us that you always serve the syrup cold. I could not believe this. My husband and I have NEVER, EVER, been to a restaurant for brunch where the syrup was served cold. We were shocked. She was kind of snotty about it, but went and sort of heated our syrup up, it still wasn't hot, but by then we were hungry and our pancakes were getting cold. I was ready to send them back, but my husband said no, because he didn't want to make more of an issue of it because of the birthday celebration. Had the pancakes been served with hot syrup, they would have been amazing. Instead, they were just o.k. and we both left extremely disappointed. The server must have realized we were kind of upset because she did apologize for the cold syrup and after having ignored us at first, became a little more attentive towards the end. In any case, after what we experienced today, what should have been a really nice brunch, left us with a bad feeling in our mouths and very, very disappointed. We WILL...
Read moreSo we used to go here alot for the past 5 or 6 years we've lived in Pasadena. We went today for lunch today while out running errands. Firstly, the staff was great, our server was doing a fine job, he was a bit overstretched though. The food though..... well some of it was great, and some not so much. I had the All American Burger with coleslaw, it did take a little longer then I would have expected but not glaringly so, when it did come out their were fries on the plate, I didn't send it back or mention anything because, I was hungry and we we're short on time. The burger was great, the fries were great, needed a little salt but that is perfectly fine. My Wife order a Salad that came with mustard dressing, I can't remember the name of it offhand. It was drenched in dressing, I mean drenched, and the salad itself had the texture of being a day or to past its prime, not rotten by any means, but not crispy either. And for my 3 year old daughter we ordered the PB&J sandwich with fruit. The sandwich was great, and the fruit it came with was a bit of a combination, pineapple, grapes, strawberry, watermelon. The watermelon was soggy and old, you know how it gets when you cut one up for a big barbeque and you put the leftovers in the fridge for a couple days, just like that. The grapes were generally fine, but there were moldy rotten grapes mixed in. now you know, that happens sometimes, grapes get smashed and the smashed ones go bad quicker then the batch they are with, but things like that really should be caught before it gets served. I imagine what is going on is they're having a hard time managing the quickly changing market conditions and amount of patrons they went from to where they are now and keeping food stocks at the proper levels, or their was a breakdown in their dating/tagging system. But that still doesn't excuse sending food out of the kitchen that shouldn't...
Read moreSorry not sorry. This place may be loved by many, but I was not impressed. First off Park in the lot down the street by DuPar's (where we will go next time) and don't pay to park in the structure by the restaurant!
We showed up without a reservation a little past noon. There was a wait for an outside table. I think they gave us an option of sitting inside initially. 🤔 Semi parked on the street in front of Cafe that was REALLY loud with all the tall buildings surrounding area. Went back to request an inside table, the inside also has AC if it's a hot day, and was told it would be a 30 min wait. We had already been waiting 20 mins after I was told we'd be seated outside almost immediately when a table was cleaned.
When they came for us we were taken to the outside table, that we waited for as it sat open and clean, and was told that the inside was for reservations only. Not entirely sure that is correct...
I had The Diane, Chinese chicken salad, size differences only apply to how much lettuce is used as all toppings are the same for each size. The small is $4 cheaper. It's a shredded iceberg lettuce and the salad comes mixed. Needless to say the salad was not fresh and crisp but wilted. The taste was bland, and I needed to add salt which made it better. It comes with their zucchini bread. That was not very special.
My friend had the Thai jerk chicken bowl and told me the brown rice was swimming in vinegar. After she packed the leftovers to go the bowl had a pool of what appeared to be vinegar. Yuck!
One of the main reasons I picked this place was that there a picture that looked like chicken alfredo. The only thing my 5yo daughter will eat. After telling the server he told me they didn't have alfredo and brought out an oily cheese topped pasta dish.
Do not recommend and will not...
