Painting with a Twist — Attraction in Pasadena

6/21/2022. UPDATE; Communication really is the key! Called Geri after my review (just like she stated down below) and she had no problem giving me a refund to try it out again. Geri, was very accommodating when I first contacted her to set up the event, and now I see that she is also a person who really cares about her clients, she corrected the matter; just started the blacklight classes & errors will happen and I will be back and will update with my new pictures. Thank you.

6/11/2022 How dare you, guerry promise me a blacklight painting, when more than a month ago i made this father's surprise painting reservation for my husband and now, you've ruin it! I've been to the friendswood and league city painting with a twist and they've come through with their accomodations (as any responsible business owner should). You mislead me by changing the picture to blacklight at the time and date chosen by me and not following blacklight painting procedure (last free minutes painting under blacklight with florescent paint). I did my nails, picked out a certain outfit, shoes and jewelry that were blacklight reactive for what was suppose to be a special event. I even called you 4 days prior to remind you it would be a blacklight painting because you hadn't changed it online. Otila mentioned it would not take place in the blacklight room and that she wasn't the one responsible and all that could be done was to reschedule, which was not an option (I never want to do business with you). I wanted a full refund and class was beginning, none of us could get a hold of you. Otila said she couldn't guarantee that refund, what am i to do? I tried negotiating time in the blacklight room. I spend some of the drawing instruction arguing with you outside and to add salt to the wound, you mentioned to me how I was suppose to mention that I wanted it to take place in the blacklight room! You cheated 6 of us out of the blacklight painting experience, you're a deceptive business woman, in the end you made feel like an insignificant fool. I made my way to that blacklight room while Nikki and Ayde we're setting up for the next class, but the lights couldn't be turned off (no point of the blacklights being lit). I tried to finish my painting all by myself in there, but became overwhelmed with the whole situation that occurred and stormed out of there with tears. All i could think of is, why am I so ignificant from the other party that did get the black light room. Our artist was unprepared she had to come around the class with her phone to show us the picture because there wasn't one up on stage already painted. I signed up for a paint class. About a week before the owner called to let me know that I was the only one that had signed up for the class so far. She notified me that she would turn the class into a "pick your paint" class, but the instructor would still be there doing the painting with me, and helping others in the class with their own paintings. That was fine with me. She then contacted me a day or so before the event to let me know that 2 other people had signed up for the class, so it could remain open. Great! Made sure again that the instructor would be painting with me, because I'm terrible on my own. She assured me she was. I get there, instructor was 30-45 minutes late. Then, she handed me a piece of paper with instructions. I asked what that was, and she explained that those were the instructions for my painting. I explained what what owner told me, and she gave me a little "ugh" *sigh and said "I guess I'll do it." She didn't have my board ready for me with the things pre-sketched on it like it was supposed to either. After doing a step with me, she would just kind of sit there and stare at me while I worked, which was super uncomfortable. The entire experience was the worst I've had with PWAT and probably the worst experience I've had with any kind of class, ever. Only good thing was the owner was nice. I am not a natural artist so attending these events has always been enjoyable for me. I get guidance and, usually, something I will actually display in my home.

This time did not meet my expectations nor previous experiences. The office planned this for team building and everyone stated we were sitting together when registering. We were divided up. In fact, 3 of us were on opposite side of the room from the others. When I told the leader, she commented she had to divide the room and moved on talking. That didn't make since because 3 people not with our group where seated there. We had two new employees who didn't know everyone who still don't because of the division of our party.

This leader also seemed to be rushing us through the painting so there really wasn't guidance just an example of what we were to paint. Everyone in our group thought the same when we talked afterwards. She was a couple colors and sections ahead of the group. We could have almost done that with the image on the website.

I believe the experience was negatively impacted solely by the leader, Amberly. I give her 3 stars. I will attend another event here, but not if she is leading. I give...
