An honest review of our actual experience. First, we came as a group of 15 for a church youth group gathering. We planned about two months ahead of time to try and see if our group would qualify for the "group discount" rate that is mentioned, but never specifically laid out online to explain qualifications. As we wanted our entire youth group (25 kids) to be able to afford to participate, we sent out many emails to in inquire if we in fact qualified. "Michelle" did respond to say they would be happy to accomodate our group but would never specify a rate. After many correspondences, we could not get a straight answer. Seeing as we needed this information I called and spoke with a gentleman who identified himself as the owner. He said a group discount is not offered for groups less than 50 and a group of 50 would only be discounted the rental of the skates. So, we could only have 15 kids that could afford to attend and we were not discounted at the door. In fact, we were charged $4 dollars more than the advertised rate for the "Extreme Fun" package. It states online that this package is $32.99, we were charged $36.99 plus tax at the door. The door process was long, unreasonable, and hectic. This location is self described as, "cashless" so this means you have to guess your total, go and load it onto a card at an ATM-like machine, and if you are wrong three times like some of my kiddos, because the cost advertised was different than what we were being charged, you have to stand in line 3 or more times to reload the card. There was one machine to accomodate every patron so this took quite a long time( about 35 minutes total for our group). You also have to sign a waiver and with only two stations for this, that added even more time onto the process. Because we had to set a time for our event, for parent pickup, this time spent was a large chunk out of our kids' actual skate time. Some of our kids opted for the package that includes Lazer tag however once we paid for the package, and were inside we were notified that there was not an employee there to run it for at least another hour. Also, once that employee showed up, we were also disallowed, at certain times, due to birthday parties having the privilege of having it to themselves. So, I feel a bit uneasy about not being properly notified about this ahead of purchase. Another yikes moment occurred when a rowdy guest was asked to leave after being unruly and cursing in Lazer tag, the employee started yelling, "get the F out!", but he used the whole word. The other tough bit to get our head around was concessions, some of the prices on the menu board did not match what you were actually charged. As kids, that have had to load money beforehand on cards, this would be hard to notice but as I was with some of my kids at their purchases, I witnessed the facility attempt to overcharge several of them. I really hope this was not intentional, but in any event, knowing how many kids this probably happens to, is a bit more than unsettling. The facility seemed to be clean and the roller skates had been upgraded recently, which was nice. The employees were, for the most part, friendly. Not always well informed as a lot of them were new, but this happens. The added star is for the facility being upkept. If your planning an event, I hope this offers some advantage of being a little more informed about what to expect. I wish I had known a lot of this beforehand. I think overall, just based on the premis of dishonest business practices, charging prices not advertised, I cannot recommend this facility . I personally, do not plan on having another event here after this experience. I am hesitant about my teens coming here alone now also. I always wondered why there were money discrepancies when they returned but now I understand a bit more what could've possibly happened. Hope this helps all parties who read...
Read moreSadly I’m editing my review from many years ago. I recently took my son here for his birthday. We had a table. NO ONE helped us at all. We talked to the manager and she said it was due to Covid yet no one was wearing a mask? Seriously!? I am completely shocked. The staff was rude! I had recently had a major surgery (6 days before). I thought since I had my girls parties there and liked the service I’d get the same treatment and I could kinda stay seated. (Because of the surgery) Nope! I was sitting for a while when I started to notice no one was doing anything, time was ticking and I knew we had a limit.. I got up to ask what’s going on and that’s when they said they can’t because of Covid. Again, no one told us these great details when we booked or when we got there.I was having to look for plates, a cake cutter, get up to ask for refills AND they actually stoped giving me refills because apparently you can only get 1 refill within the first 30 mins? No one told us this! Also, I had no clue when anything started. I had to ask what time the kids do laser tag. They said “oh it’s now” ohhh kaaaaay!! And no one could come let me know!!? I had to round up all the kids. I couldn’t find everyone because I started getting light headed and my feet and legs were starting to swell. I then asked the girl at the counter if she could call the kids to the laser tag for me and she rolled her eyes and geothermal an attitude said yes.. This was embarrassing. But also, the parents there saw how I was being treated and how the service sucked bad. They lost alot of potential customers and I didn’t have to say a word. Even 2 parents spoke up for me and talked to the manager. They got the sam excuse. I asked for a partial refund and she said no.. So basically paid 400 to rent a table! Horrible! I’ll never go...
Read moreI am updating my review due to the owners comment. When I purchased my pass, I had to SIGN A SHEET IN THE NOTEBOOK that I had received my pass. Nice try on blaming the customer. Try implementing better customer service practices.
I purchased a summer pass for my daughter back in June for $40. It was to include unlimited skating, playground, etc for the duration of the summer and expire Labor day weekend. After purchasing the pass, I still had to pay for our admission/skate rental the same day despite having bought the pass. Nevertheless, we continued and had a decent time. The camp that Starlite provides made for a very cramped and disorganized facility while we were there. The staff spent more time on their personal phones and in the camp room talking than they did interacting with the kids they were supposed to be supervising. Upon returning to Starlite after a family vacation, I realized that I had misplaced my pass/receipt. After several minutes of searching I offered to show the owner my bank statement as proof that I purchased the pass...she refused to allow us admission, saying there is no record of the pass and that they don't have a record of it. I offered her my bank statement! This is very poor business practice; not keeping records and having extremely poor customer service. My little girl had to miss out on an afternoon of fun that we had PAID for because a business doesn't keep records? Who has never lost a receipt?!! Sadly for Starlite, we have many birthday parties coming up and had we had planned to have Starlite host them. After today's fiasco, we most likely will not be back. Such a shame that management/owners will not work with patrons and keep customers coming back. They would rather lose business than take a bona fide proof of payment that any retailer...
