I have been collecting sports cards since the 1980s and have been in stores all over the country. I have seen the hobby go through so many changes, and have been on both sides of the counter at different times. I have tried Draft Town multiple times since it opened as it is by far the closest store to my house. Below is what my experience has been. It is not meant as anything more than my impression and experience. I by no means think that it will be the same for everybody, and I understand that depending upon your goals in the collecting world it may fine for you.
I have seen in my time going to Draft Town a couple of things to be consistent.
First, the employees and people "in charge" have changed almost every single time I have gone into the store. I was going about once every week or two for the first year or so, but have since dwindled to around once a month. It is hard to build any kind of rapport or relationship with the store due to the constant turnover. I will say that it seems like some of the employees have stayed for a few months now, but the leadership seems to have changed yet again.
Second, it is hard to get a clear answer at times on card prices due to the lack of cohesion within the stores leadership.
Third, inventory seems to have declined significantly since the opening. They have a relatively small number of cards for sale, and most are fairly low end and tons of the same few players.
Fourth, wax stock is okay, but a lot of retail reselling and at prices similar to online resellers like Dave and Adams etc.
Fifth, they will offer 60% of comps when buying, but want to sell for 125%+ of comps when selling. Cards going for 25-35 online they are willing to meet for 50$, want 100+ for cards that sell in the 70-80$ range online. I am honestly not sure this has anything to do with anything other than they honestly do not really know how to comp cards correctly.
Lastly, I am not a huge fan of Cards HQ in Atlanta as it is just too big and corporate for me, and I prefer the more local feeling stores. However, I feel like they have always been much more fair to deal with in both buying and selling. I feel like Draft Town fancies itself as a smaller version of Cards HQ, but they have a long way to go to get there. They lack the cohesion, fairness, knowledge and customer service to compete with other "local" card stores, let alone a large scale operation like Cards HQ or other...

Read moreI have visited this location twice now, and both times, the customer service was exceptional. From the time I walked through the door until the time I exited, I was taken care of. The first time O came alone and the second I brought my wife and grandkids. I enjoy the open clean and organization of this location. They have a variety of items to trade and purchase, such as Pokemon, baseball, football cards, and memorabilia. They also have comics and card box sets of various genres. You can buy, sell, or trade here as well as bring in cards to be shipped out for grading for a price. There are several stand-alone smaller video game machines set on free play with old school games to enjoy. My grandbabies loved those, lol. There are also big screen TVs playing the sports channels and comfortable couches to just relax on. There are also several tables available to play card games on or just trade with others. It's a nice place to visit Trade at Relax at or all the above. I highly recommend for all card collectors to check out...
