Read moreI love working out at RVCP. I use only the fitness center, although I have strolled through the park. The fitness center is a two-story building with everything you'd want for recreation and fitness purposes plus community rooms for meetings, celebrations, dancing, whatever. On the first floor, the center has two glass-wall raquetball courts, two rock-climbing walls, a hilarious "gopher-pounding" exercise unit, a game/arcade room, a childcare room, and the welcome desk where really sweet employees check you in. Also on that floor are the locker rooms and four half-court basketball courts that can be arranged for volleyball or pickleball. Upstairs are too many machines, free weights, stretch devices, and sundry fitness equipment to list. But, for me, it lacks nothing. I especially like the oval 3-lane, "padded" track where you can run, walk, or push a stroller. Fifteen laps is a mile. The best thing about the fitness center is the folks who work there. They are so easy going and helpful. They even offer various levels of personal training (for a price). I was just there today. I...
Read moreRio Vista is one of my favorite parks! I really like how big it is and how many activities are available to the community. I especially like the New River Trail system, as I use this for a power walking and/or jogging path. There are many bike riders on this path, but since it is a wide trail, you can easily stay to the right of them. Most of the bike riders have be courteous and are mindful of the walkers, joggers, and runners on the trail, so it makes the experience of using the trail system that much more enjoyable. I have spotted coyotes on and off the path, but they are harmless and are more afraid of you than you are of them. I have also seen many cottontail rabbits along the trail, so this gives me a new sense of peace. When I'm not on the trail, I hang out near the ramadas, or gaze at the fishing pond near the recreational center. If you enjoy, volleyball, skateboarding, basketball, swimming, etc., this park has all of that and more. Overall, I enjoy coming to Rio Vista and I highly...
