I meet my sonâs occupational therapist here for therapy since it is a public library and that is where his therapist has met other clients there without an issue. The therapist claims a private room which is first come first serve. Like I said, she has had no issues with any other clients but one day a woman named Heather decided she was going unprofessionally approach us when we were in the room thatâs dedicated to the public group reading time.
Anyway, she came up to us very aggressively and advised us we could not be in that room and for whatever reason decided she needed to assert her role as the manager of the library. Which I find comical seeing that she wasnât presenting herself as a manager should. I advised her last week we were here and spoke to another staff member who was new if we could be inside that room. She said she was new and would go ask. She came back and advised us as long as there was no story time that we could be in there. Mind you, that same day that we asked about being in that room another therapist was in that room with another child and parent.
Anyway, after advising Heather the manager of what we were told she proceeded to walk to a desk where a girl with pink hair was sitting. Heather came back and proceeded to tell us that what I told her was a lie and the girl with pink hair said she did not say any of that. She should be embarrassed acting like that and calling herself the manager. I advised her that wasnât even the woman that the employee spoke to and if she was there I would be able to point her out.
Itâs been two weeks since that incident and my sonâs therapist and myself have spoken to HEATHERS manager whom is named Nathaniel who apologized for Heathers behavior and also advised both of us that there is a room that can be rented for $20 and hour. My sonâs therapist is non profit through the state and Nathaniel advised us that if itâs nonprofit we would not have to pay. Now we have been trying to schedule this private room for the last two weeks and have been unsuccessful because the manager Heather will not make herself available or call my sonâs therapist in order to schedule it. My son has a trach and is more susceptible to becoming ill and needing to be admitted into the hospital. There are a lot of little kids running around coughing. Now we were told by Nathaniel that this room could be rented by us free of charge as long as we could provide documentation that it is nonprofit and now my sons therapist has been struggling for the last two weeks to even speak to the manager to see the schedule.    Read moreI recently left from peoria public library due to a horrible experience in customer service. I attended the library earlier this evening with my daughter who was a bit unsettled and as much I tried to calm her down it did not work. I was in the dvd section by the front entrance browsing the movies as I overheard a few times, someone saying "shhhhhh" in a condescending manner. She did that several times, her name happens to be Robin. It was extremely embarrassing and unprofessional. She said that a customer was complaining about my daughter being loud when I confronted her about her "shhhhh" ing us. Robin was being rude and inconsiderate. She even disrespected me by saying to take her outside because of one person complaining about a baby? I was discriminated against so someone should be held accountable for this injustice. My tax dollars pay to keep this building standing and to also make sure that Robin has a job. She is a public servant and failed miserably. Nancy perhaps was very helpful to say the least I cannot recollect if she was present during the back and forth conversation me and Robin had but she then shortly walked up to assist me and was very helpful up until my exit. I also asked Nancy is this the first time that a baby has been loud in a library? she then replied "no" Robin sat there to shake her head without any remorse to what had just been practiced which was discrimination. THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AT A LIBRARY IN PHOENIX! racism is extremely refined here in arizona but here in peoria these residents are so blatant,
Thank you Nancy for your help, if only Robin had treated me the same as you
I do seek future compensations due to me and my daughter's inconvenience, My daughter was scared and trembling when Robin was being loud, yelling and defensive. I hope she will be ok after this, this event was truly traumatizing

Read moreI am saddened to have to express my disappointment regarding an unfortunate experience my husband and daughter had during a recent visit to the library. They mistakenly arrived today, believing they had a scheduled meeting. With my daughter's hectic week, she had confused the dates and unfortunately forgotten her information packet. When they approached the front desk for assistance, they were met by two librarians who, rather than offering help or showing basic courtesy, simply responded, âRefer to your information packet.â My daughter attempted to explain that she had forgotten the packet, but the staff proceeded to ignore her and my husband, showing no willingness to assist or engage further. This lack of empathy and professionalism was deeply disappointing, especially given that our family has been loyal visitors to the library for many years and have always valued the supportive environment it typically provides. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the staff members failed to uphold the level of service expected in a public institutionâparticularly one that serves families and students. Instead of offering support or even listening to the situation, the staff continued with a personal conversation unrelated to their work responsibilities. This is not the standard of service we have come to expect, and I believe no patron should be treated this way when simply asking for help. I intend to bring this matter to the attention of a supervisor in hopes that appropriate steps will be taken to ensure others are treated with kindness, respect, and the assistance they deserve. I look forward to seeing a...
