I was very excited to try this new spot but it was a huge let down. Would not recommend.
I tried almost everything, including brioche sandwich, cutlet sandwich, wings, and tenders.
I wanted to try their basic sandwich, as that will tell you a lot about a chicken joint, so I went with the hen trooper. They use chicken thighs which I normally prefer but they don't trim the meat well or at all. They left the fat vein channel and undercooked it. So, a third of the sandwich had gross chewy fat/vein/tendon (or whatever that is). I threw a good bit away. If you're going to leave that crap, you need to cook to well done, so you don't have a nasty chewy buger in your sandwich. I would rather have Chick-fil-A any day. And that's saying something, that fast food trumps this specialty restaurant.
The chicken Parm was probably the best. But it does not contest with a legit Italian spot.
The wings were under cooked and not crispy. Even the skin and external fat was chewy. I can understand the crispy not being excellent with take out. But even if they were fresh, the sauce would make the breading mush. And the sauce is store bought Franks buffalo. This is nuts with the prices they're charging.
The tenders were a disappointment as soon as I opened the container. They use, what appears to be, basic store bought Italian bread crumbs. Your average good pizza joint does way better. And again, more store bought sauces. Except the house sauce, which was good.
This is a good spot for drunk college kids but if you enjoy good food,...
Read moreI recently visited Hen Solo, and I have to say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home.
Now, let's talk about the food! The Parmesan Truffle Fries are nothing short of divine. Crispy, golden fries tossed in just the right amount of Parmesan and drizzled with a rich, aromatic truffle oil. Theyâre the perfect balance of savory and indulgent â I couldâve eaten an entire platter on my own!
The Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwich is also a must-try. The chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, and served on a soft, slightly toasted bun that complements the flavors beautifully. Itâs clear that a lot of care goes into making this sandwich, from the seasoning to the overall quality of the ingredients. Every bite is a treat.
The menu is varied and has something for everyone, with plenty of creative options that keep you coming back for more. Service was outstanding â attentive without being intrusive, and they really made an effort to ensure we had a great experience.
Overall, Hen Solo hits it out of the park with both its food and service. Highly recommend checking them out if you're in the Manayunk areaâ it's a place you wonât...
Read moreTo the owner who is responding to this review, your employee contacted someone who she claimed was the owner and was told to not refund or fix the order. So either your trying to save face or she was lying. Either way it is not okay.
Food was good, place was a bit basic but had a few seats to eat in. My biggest problem that might keep me from coming back is the customer service. My partner and I were told it was best to order off the kiosk which is no problem. The problem occurred when the kiosk didn't properly describe the food. My partner does not eat certain foods like cheese and mayo. He put in all his modifications based on the kiosk description of the sandwich but his sandwich had mayo on it. When we brought that up we were told oh well we won't refund you. The kiosk didn't list mayo as an ingredient so how was he supposed to know to take it off. The fact they messed up his food and told him oh well is really unacceptable. We had to be treated like crap and then he had to point out the kiosk error to get them to fix it. This is not how a business should be run. Fix your kiosk to have proper descriptions first, second show some level of customer care. You messed up just...
