I really like this place. It's been one of the only decent sushi places I've found near the city. Going in for the 3rd time for some dinner tonight with friends.

I recommend the chef special where you get fresh sashimi, the fish is pretty decent. Having them decide what you'll get makes it easy. I usually do not like specialty rolls because they are packed with mayo and other weird combinations. Not Yanako specifically but it's just how america makes sushi in general.

Though I'm pretty picky about specialty rolls, we like the seven seas roll so far the best. The manayunk roll is also very good too.

Oyster shooters are soo good if they have them.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are when the fresh fish shipments come in so if you want the freshest pick, those dates are usually the best.

I'd give this place a 5 star but I didn't because I feel the prices are a bit high for the portions.

For example.... I spent around $16 for an albacore appetizer which included 3 small pieces of albacore. 1 specialty roll is 15-18$ which is kind of unreasonable as well considering the fish quality is not too different from other sushi places I've been to.

However, I do realize they are the only sushi join in town, so I get why they pretty much have free reign on pricing.

BYOB as well. They will bottle service for you which is nice. A beautiful ambiance and cute decor. Parking may be a pain since it's right on the main strip of manayunk. We always train in and walk to the restaurant...

My fiance and I went here for dinner on a Tuesday night as we're new to the manayunk area and it was pretty highly rated. Our experience was horrible!

First, we were the only people in the restaurant on a Tuesday night. And somehow, it took our waitress ten to fifteen minutes to come back and take our order, even though the chefs and other waiters saw that we were ready to order. Once we finally ordered our food, we saw a mouse run across the floor! We were horrified. We told our waitress and asked if we could just move outside. Not a single person apologized about the mouse and it almost seemed as though the waitstaff gave us attitude afterwards! When the sushi finally came out, it was very small portion for the price. 18 dollars for a "special" roll is ridiculous when there isn't much that's special about it.

This place is trying too hard to be fancy. Just stick to sushi at reasonable prices and learn how to treat your guests! If a single person would have apologized or even acknowledged for our experience, I wouldn't be phased. But the response was horrible and we will...

I work in Manayunk and recently ordered lunch from here. I usually order online and swing by to pick it up—quicker and easier with limited time during the workday. Today, when I arrived, the building was closed. Totally my fault—I didn’t check their hours before placing the order through their website.

A staff member came to the door and kindly explained that they take a midday break between lunch and dinner, but unfortunately, they can't pause orders on their app. I offered to cancel and go elsewhere, but they insisted on making my food anyway—even though they were on break. While I waited, they brought me the most delicious Thai iced tea, completely on the house.

I honestly can’t say enough about how kind and accommodating the staff were. They truly went out of their way when they didn’t have to. I got the chicken katsu and it was fantastic. Great food, incredible...

Attached to the Thai restaurant next door. Kind of disappointed because I wanted to sit on the Japanese restaurant side as reservation was made for there but got seated on Thai side since there was none available in Yanako. But the food is great. I would say the portion is small compared to some places I been to, but for the location I guess its reasonable. Had the takoyaki and sushi/sashimi for two. The takoyaki only had four pieces :( but perfect crunch, so soft and yummy. The seafood was fresh. Loved the rolls as it was stuffed with so much filling. However the sashimi was quite small.

Quite disappointed by the food. The sushis we got were fine in terms of taste, but given the portion (smaller size than usual) and ingredients (fewer than usual for non-basic rolls/sushis), they were overpriced. The pork buns were not very warm — the buns were a tad hard to chew. Only the chicken yakitori was yummy. Otherwise, great service and good ambiance (it was quite loud but it was a Friday evening, so perhaps hard to find a calm place at that time!).

We had dinner here Saturday night, October 1. Great selection of sushi on the menu. The waitress was very helpful, informative, and attentive. We (the three of us) ended up sharing five sushi rolls, 2 of which we had the waitress choose and surprise us. She nailed it! Delicious! Wish we knew it was BYOD, for we would have brought a bottle of wine. No worries, the hot tea was very flavorful and the waitress made sure my cup was always full.
