Hot Hands Massage & Facial Spa — Attraction in Philadelphia

Well I don't normally post reviews unless I'm really moved by someone really going above and beyond for me, but this situation I feel it is my duty to speak up for the young lady at the reception area. While I was waiting for my appt not long after I checked in, I sat down in the what usually is a quiet peaceful waiting area. However today was much different. So let me start off by saying, I too am in the business of serving the public so I fully understand the importance of preserving the overall look and feel of a business, how to conduct myself as well as my staff- because at the end of the day customers are what makes our businesses succeed. Anyways this was only my 2nd or 3rd visit here and I was completely mortified for the young lady who was in the role as the receptionist. There were two ladies in the back (of much older age) saying very derogatory and plain disgusting things about this sweet young lady at the front counter. They were giggling, making comments about her and another young lady being stupid, not knowing their jobs and some other things. *Now if you'll excuse me, here is where my professional review is taking a much darker tone; First and foremost, you are in a place of business....I'm pretty sure you ladies graduated highschool a long time ago- so why are you acting like caddy highschool girls with zero class and professionalism? How you BOTH portrayed yourselves is outright shame. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Not only for the young lady but for acting in such an embarrassing and disgusting manner. You BOTH had no regard for who might be in close proximity and might hear you. I have never witnessed such pathetic behavior from two quote on quote grown women in all my years in the customer service business. If I were your manager you both would be fired on the spot. You don't deserve your jobs in this spa. You clearly take it and your positions for granted. You are an embarrassment to not only Hot Hands Spa as a business but the owner and the two young ladies too. There is no way I would ever allow such disgusting people back in any business I owned if your were employees of mine. You not only owe the Owner of the Spa an apology but you REALLY owe the young lady who was working this last Sunday an enormous apology!

Sometimes I wonder how people like yourselves can act in such a belligerent manner and yet still be employed.

You might need to actually revisit highschool and relearn what it means to be professional, so you can understand the true meaning of what customer service actually entails and not that unprofessional and ridiculous version you have set in your minds to be. You BOTH were so out of line that its very likely you won't ever regain any amount of faith or trust from the owner let alone the young ladies in there. You were downright rude and disgusting and I personally don't think I want to associate myself with that type of behavior by continuing my business in a place of business that does not hold themselves accountable for their behavior. And you can sure bet, out of all the clients that frequent your Spa that number will start to diminish over time. Especially once they hear how your treat your own team members behind open curtains. Its time you two take a hard long look at yourselves and do what it takes to learn how to act like adults. My sister and I went yesterday and had both massages and facials. I am giving the experience 4 stars because of the people who took care of us. My masseuse was Emily and I can't rave enough! I am a server and am on my feet all day and she really hit every spot with the perfect amount of pressure. My facial was done by Liz, or as some woman referred to her as the "blonde latino woman" (so rude), and she was amazing! She was super knowledgeable and gave me all sorts of tips that I am already trying. She also took care of my sister Holly and she agrees that she was awesome. Holly's massage was done by the owner who she says was exceptional, very friendly and very professional. The reason for only 4 stars is mainly because of the receptionist. I walked in and she didn't even look up at me, even as I stood there for about a minute. She finally did and no hello, good morning, just "name?". I again said how are you and her response was "aren't you coming I with someone?" Same when I left, I walked up to the desk to ask about tip envelopes and she was too busy on Facebook to notice me until I asked her. The receptionist is the first impression and this wasn't a good one. My job also gets reviewed which is why I'm taking the time to give Emily and Liz their rave, and as for the receptionist maybe she was just having a bad day but she definitely needs to work on customer service. The place was tiny, no bells or whistles but it had the necessary things. I had my treatments which were awesome, and enjoyed my experience overall. I would definitely go back and see those...

I found Hot Hands Massage & Facial Spa through a daily deal site. It was one of the few spas offering a full spa day with massage, facial, scalp massage, and leg massage. I purchased a voucher as I needed a last-minute spa day in the city. Booking a reservation on their website was easy, and I found several openings for the next evening.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the hostess and the friendly owner, who is also a massage therapists. They were engaging and accommodating. Although the esthetician had left for the day, preventing me from redeeming the facial part of my voucher, they booked me for the next day, which was fine. My therapist arrived a few minutes late due to an issue, but I didn't mind the slight delay.

The foot massage was pretty good, but the overall massage was comfortable and relaxing. Almost went to sleep. The therapist asked about my problem areas and the amount of pressure to apply. She was friendly and knowledgeable, explaining different techniques and the reasons behind my problem areas. The next day, I returned for the facial, my first ever, and it was fantastic. My face felt the best it ever has, and the esthetician, who examined my face under a microscope, was very friendly and personable.

Overall, I highly recommend Hot Hands Massage & Facial Spa for a full spa day. It's conveniently located near Center City and major highways, with plenty of different services and...
