If no stars was an option that is what I would give. Pre-pandemic I only had good things to say about this club, post-pandemic horrible customer service, the facility is unclean, machines are out of service for an extended period of time. The only reason I continue patronizing this club is due to it being really close to my home and I like early morning workouts.
Customer Service: I’ve had two situations at this club with workers which left me thinking either the workers are unaware that there are other gyms in this area with competitive pricing or they just don’t care about there jobs or perhaps they are ignorant to the fact that no customers will equal no job.
First issue: When the mask mandate was in place I question the young lady as to why they were not enforcing the mask mandate. The cleaner Dawn responded though the question was not directed to her. She’s yelling at the top of her lungs “nobody listens that’s why we’re not enforcing it”. This resulted in me filing a complaint with Corporate and while the Manager received the complaint she did not even have the courtesy or decency to call me to apologize for her workers behavior.
Second issue: On today I notified the person working the desk Will that at least one sanitizing station needed to be refilled. An hour later the sanitizing station remained empty so I again brought it to his attention. Will’s response was the cleaning person is not on the floor and I could utilize other sanitizing stations, please keep in mind that early morning patrons are mostly elderly so to have them walking to the other side of the gym poses as an inconvenience. I then advised him he could use the paging system to summons the cleaner and his response was in laughter you want me to page the janitor for sanitizer.
The behavior of the workers is a direct reflection of the Manager.
Cleanliness: The above is not first instance of sanitizing machines not being filled. When we arrive in the morning the garbage from the previous day is overflowing. Additionally there has been numerous occasions when there has been no hand soap in the women's locker room. Additionally there has been occasions where garbage from the previous night is on the treadmills.
Ethics: Management is unethical. Following the reopening of the gyms in 2021, the Sales Manager of LA Fitness died from COVID, the members were not notified that a worker had contracted COVID therefore we continued to go there and of course mask mandate was not being followed and the only way we found out was due to a memorial table set up for this individual. LA Fitness without question disregarded the requirements to report to the City that an employee had tested positive and further disregarded the requirement to notify the members.
Think twice before going to this facility they...
Read moreUPDATE NOVEMBER 2017: because of financial reasons I had to bite the bullet and sign up with la grant even though my last experience was awful. BUT I was pleasantly surprised! It seems to me that they are reading and taking actions based on members comments/reviews. The gym is being kept clean and the staff is friendly. Still crowded in the evening, but I try to avoid that as much as possible. I would LOVE if they got new bikes for the cycling classes. Every time I go the classes are crowded. The last time I went there were 5 bikes out of service.... 5 bikes that members had to be turned away. They are rusty and the ride is not as smooth, time for an upgrade!
Old post: was a member of LA Fitness on grant about a year ago. I stopped going because of health issues and found another gym to join, that better suited my needs. I recently found out I can go to multiple gyms (La Fitness being one of them) with my health insurance for a low few, so I signed up as a backup if I didn't feel like making the commute to my new gym. It was late one night, and I decided to go to LA because it is so close to my house... and let me say I was disgusted. It smelled so bad, I know it is a gym, and people sweat. I know it is not going to smell like roses... but the smell coming from this gym was disgusting. It was almost unbearable. But I decided to stay... and I should have just worked out at home. Not only was it crowded at ten at night, one of the reasons why I left a year ago. (i know it is a business, and they want as many members as possible, but enough is enough) But it was a pigsty, weights everywhere (except for where they needed to be) there were signs everywhere saying a HUGE section of the back was only for members who pay and arm and a leg for personal training (which I about a two years ago) which I think is totally unfair. It is a BIG chunk they are taking away from their members, and they know this gym gets insanely crowded...., things were locked, dirt everywhere, and just rude people in general. I was going to cancel my new gym membership because it is expensive, and go back to LA BUT after my experience the other night.... I will stay with my new gym. I guess you do get what you pay for... that being said LA Fitness isn't a...
Read moreThe equipment is comprehensive and the environment is beautiful, but the customer service is really disgusting. General Manager Steve is a downright hypocritical person. I signed up at 12/5 in Cottman Ave LA fitness membership. I have a family plan for 4 people, but CM won’t open until 12/20. Because LA members can enjoy gyms in any area, I went to the closest Grant ave LA to me, and before I went there, I had already logged in on the App and selected Grant as my gym. I also put my friends On the VIP pass list. But when I scan the code at Grant’s front desk, they said: My account is not activated. I said: if it is not activated, how do I book a course on the app. Then they said that my friend was going to fill out the Guess pass. After we filled out all the forms and waited 45 minutes finally someone came to help print out the QR code of my friend ’s visit. And from the beginning to the end, their general manager Steve was flirting with another young employee. After waiting 30 minutes, we went to the front desk to ask how long it would take. They told us that once the manager had time, he would help you immediately After 45 minutes, we started working out. Such a good gym was destroyed by such managers. In fact, I understand that in such an organization, many people who are in management will neglect their work because they are not investing in their own money and the enterprise. After all, they are not spending their money. I just wrote it out to let everyone know that if you want to go to LA, do n’t go to...
