After visiting Ikea for many years, I never thought I would have a bad experience at this store, especially on the same day with two separate workers. We were trying to purchase some parts for our Pax closet and nobody was available in the closets section so I had to go to the first floor and make my way to the registers to find the first employee I could find. After an employee told me where I could find the parts, I went up there again. I had a very difficult time with my family trying to look for the items so I asked an employee that I saw in the section. He dismissively and rudely responded that he didn’t know and that I was not supposed to be there because apparently it was an employee only zone, which I was not aware of at the time. He said he was going to “pretend he didn’t see us, turned around and walked away. I walked to the front with my husband and I requested to speak to a manager and explained the situation to her. Heather tried to help me but when my husband overheard the explanation of what had happened, he went to find the guy who mistreated his wife. Security consequently followed my husband to try to calm down the situation. Heather and other employees were involved at this point and were trying to apologize for what had happened. They eventually helped us get the parts and we paid for them. On our way out, another employee went to bring us out the parts. He practically threw the cart at my husband and began to walk away. We told him there was a part missing and he said “if it wasn’t on the paper, you have to pay for it, it’s not my problem”. And kept walking. That’s when I lost it. I began to yell to which the employees, security and Heather can back again. I explained to them the situation once more, they were apologizing profusely, including offering me a gift card which I did not accept. In the 20 years I have been there, I have never been spoken to and mistreated in the way I was not once but TWICE today. The managers handled everything appropriately but measures need to be taken to prevent these employees from doing such things again. The questions that are still going through my head is why we had to go through an embarrassing moment like that when all I asked was where I could find a product and they directed me to the wrong place? Why did I have to go down all the way to front to find employees that were actually useful and deal with the miserable ones out on the floor? How is it possible to have TWO bad experiences with different employees in one day? Thank you so much for the wonderful service IKEA, I really...
Read moreThe service here is always hit or miss. I encountered two really friendly helpful associates and two really aggravated ones. The two that seemed aggravated were at the registers.
The girl working the registers towards the end of the food area (by the entrance doors) was so passive aggressive it changed my whole mood. First she kept placing herself between my sons stroller and the self service register. I was getting myself in position once the other customer left since I had a stroller and a basket to maneuver. Instead of her using her voice she used her body to keep moving in front of us. This was mildly annoying but I just kept moving to the side thinking maybe she isn't doing it on purpose. Then as we walked by she mumbled something about pressing start (I seriously could not hear her cause she was saying it in passing by me). Then I get to the register and she leans over me saying can I help you? OK at this point I ask her to leave me alone because she has not once spoke directly to me and now she is in my personal space. She distracted me as I was pulling out my card to pay and the screen locked and I couldn't pay. It was on the pay screen when she initially came over. She makes a scene and calls her manager over loudly saying "She won't let me help her" so now I'm on display and it's embarrassing because I NEVER asked her to do anything. I was doing OK. the manager comes over and makes it even more weird cause HE has an attitude with her saying he can't touch her badge and basically acts like he's the principal during class change and directs me again like she did with out even looking at me.
Look if ya'll don't want to work with people.... humans... go work with animals. No eye contact , talking to and herding people like cattle,.... Look I wanted the peaceful happy IKEA experience and your associates in the front ruined it. Stop being aggressive and start treating people like people. It's too much going on out in the world to treat people the way they did. Sad cause the young lady working in aisle 12 near bay 30 was very nice and the gentleman upstairs working near the closets was incredibly nice. Their coworkers need to take a page...
