I've suffered with this company for over 7 years and if you think this is some "oh this guy was not a happy customer because of a one time thing" you're very wrong. For 7 years! I've been fighting with this company to give me the speed I pay for and the only time I didn't fight was when I was on a low speed connection and at that speed, it's so slow and I'm so frustrated that I don't even care to check. I just shovel out my hundred bucks a month, bend over, and take it because I have no other option to get internet at a comparable price to the surrounding area cable providers.That's not an empty statement. Ask people in hackettstown with Comcast and over in PA with Blue Ridge. I've seen that they pay less for more. Look, I'm not talking like I pay for 50mbps down and my speed results come back at 40-45mbps plugged directly into the modem. I'm talking pay for 50 and only get 10-25mbps depending on the time of day. I've upgraded in the past hoping Id get somewhat faster speeds. Always have problems. Went back to slower speed and waited for super high speed because that generally requires better infrastructure. Currently, I am on their 350mbps and I'm lucky if I get 100mbps. Maybe I'll get 150, or maybe I'll get 34 or maybe I'll get 87. No one knows what internet speed you'll get but you can be sure that you won't get what you pay for because SE isn't held accountable for the service they provide. In fact, since I've agreed to the higher speed about 2 months ago, they have yet to prove that they can even hit this speed because it's been broken pretty much the whole time. I've called at least 5 times in last two months to get this resolved. They've had trucks out twice and it still doesn't work. The box for the internet is practically right in front of my house and there are others in the area that have the same problem. All "we", the consumer get for internet speed is whatever they feel like spoon feeding us for that point in the day but still charge us full price. It's disgusting. It is that bad people and if you're looking into the area and have any intention of gaming, running an internet based business, have a family that likes watching online videos and streaming services, or anything that requires more than 3mbps download, forget it. Look somewhere else. Save yourself the frustration I have dealt with for so long. The technicians and customer service reps have always been pleasant.This review is based purely on my internet experience and constant frustration with this "service" provider that over promises, over charges, and takes advantage of the atrocious lack of competition...
Read moreWE ARE DONE WITH SERVICE ELECTRIC HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE We used to love service electric but lately it has been a nightmare working with them. Our internet has been kicking in and out and we have to reset it at least once or multiple times a day to get a solid connection. We called for a technician to come out and had to wait almost a week for an appointment! They used to send someone much quicker years ago! The tech arrived and stayed 5 mins and said it was the black cable in the back causing the issue and that he will come back the next day and check our signal in the morning to make sure we are good! Well that same night, the internet was back out and we were back to having to reset it multiple times ourselves! Technician never came back like he said he would. My mom called again and was told she didn’t have a good enough reason to send a tech out because at the time she called, the internet was working fine! She even told them it keeps kicking on and off and they did not care! So I called and I told them the situation and they said they could see signal drops but they can only get a tech out 1 week later! I took the appointment and called back the next day and told them that we should be priority because our internet was never fixed! The employees don’t care, and said there was nothing they can do besides put me on a list and if something opens up they would call! I called 2 days later again and told them I need a manager to get on the phone now. The rep told me no manager was available and I would have to wait for a call! I told them if someone doesn’t come out to our house we are switching providers and hung up! I got a call 10 mins later and was told a tech could arrive the next day from 9-5! He came around 12 and was there for 20 mins. All he did was change our modem to a new one! Once he left, the internet went down again and I spent 1 hour trying to reset it and it finally worked for 24 hours and as I type this review it’s out again!!! WE ARE DONE WITH SERVICE...
Read moreWorst internet company I've ever dealt with, avoid at all costs. Whatever other service provider option you have, please go with it. I was a customer for a full year, before buying a new house and moving. Never made a late payment, always paid early. I ended service with them in December, thought we ended on good terms with no issue. Only to find out 5 days ago from getting a letter from Telacollect to my parents house, they're trying to charge me an extra "270$ for lost and damaged product". The kicker was I even had mail forwarding set up to my new address, from the house I had service electric. Service electric/Telacollect decided to mail this information to my parents house, not even sure where they got this information. I called and asked what was broken with the modem. Everything with the modem worked fine for me up to the last day. Was told they don't have and return on record and thats the issue. And without a receipt from 4months ago there's nothing they can do. Besides further insist I owe the 270, so all in all. They never sent certified mail, to verify an address before reaching out to a collecting agency. They waited four months before inquiring about it.... Worst part was I called and left a message for a supervisor on their answering machine, to try and talk through this. Only to be ignored and to not receive a call back. I'm in udder disgust with how this situation is being handled. And that's not to even talk about how they can just do this to someone without even actually talking to the person. When they are actively trying to make communication with service electric. At the very least a supervisor would've been able to take my payment and confirm its no longer in Telacollects hands and that's talking worst case scenario. I will go out of way to NOT recommend this place of business, I will not let a friend or family member go with service electric as a service if i can help it. I really can't stress this enough.
