Very helpful and friendly staff. Clean train. Nice day activity. Relaxing train ride but lacking a view. Got to see the Delaware River in some spots but mostly it’s overgrown so in the late spring, summer, early fall there isn’t too much to look at. They have a winery you can take the train to as well as a corn maze in the fall and a “mine” for rocks. The last two options are perfect for kids and if you move quick enough you could get both activities (maze and mine) done before having to board the next train. The train ride goes to the corn maze/mine and drops you off. You have about 1 hour and 30 minutes to do the mine and the maze. You definitely feel a little rushed. There are two corn mazes a small and a big one. I suggest if you want to take your time and really explore the big maze then do the big maze separate from the mine, on different days. During peak season they get busy and even though you have the option of catching later trains they really push you to catch the next train back and not the last ones because of social distancing. They also have a bathroom and gift shop on the train (we didn’t visit the gift shop on the train but we saw signs) They also have a gift shop at the mine where you can buy snacks/water/soda as well as extra bags of dirt and rocks.

Delaware River Railroad excursion - [ ] Decent incline required to walk to get to the train station area - [ ] There is a golf cart that they can take you down in though if you're unable to. - [ ] Our 2 pm train left right on time but unfortunately, the staff within our car wasn't focused on his job and was talking to frequent visitors the entire ride. Due to that, we were unable to hear the intercom that was proving historical facts about stuff we were passing. - [ ] The train only had 2 cars open, in addition to the gift shop car. - [ ] We also learned that if you are doing the mining, you have to pass it to drop off the winery people further down first before starting to head back towards the station - [ ] Be aware -You're at the mining stop for almost 2 hours. When you are dropped off, they do a factual skit before leading you into the actual mining area. - [ ] ❗️For those with sensory issues-the skit included smoke, loud noises and banging - [ ] Everyone is given a bag of sand with randomly placed stones, fossils, and gems-it's the luck of the draw with what and how much you find - [ ] They teach you how to use sifters to clean the stones before allowing time for everyone to do it themselves with their bags - [ ] Other bags are available for purchase in the small gift shop there. They sold drinks there but no food. - [ ] There's also a bounce house for kids and a corn maze at the mining stop but about 45 minutes in, I think everyone was ready to get back on the train. - [ ] After 2 hours, the last train of the day picked us up for the ride back to the station (about 30 minutes ride) Final thoughts: The train ride itself was beautiful but a lot longer than stated, by about an hour and with no air nonetheless. I feel like they may benefit from having an adult only option or having a "silent car", as well as more food options. We noticed, it seems like a male dominant company, even within the mining. For anyone like myself that looks for coupons, they don't accept them (or even know they exist) If anything, the mining was what made the train worth it.

NEW COMERS BEWARE FREE PARKING IS AVAILABLE..there is Courtesy Parking thru the guarded barricades & a free lot just over the bridge. If the lot is full, you might have to wait for the train to return for a spot. The gas station owner tried ripping me off $15 to park. Went to NJ yesterday & seen places asking $20 for parking. That just isn't right. There is also a free parking lot just over the bridge past the train area entrance. Don't get ripped off for parking when there is free parking available.. I have been waiting a long time to take this excursion. On a whim, I purchased tickets on Groupon. My parents & some extended family decided to join making this an enjoyable memorable experience we can say we completed. I should have read reviews prior to buying our tickets & getting my hopes up. Parking was horrible.. The road was blocked off to get the the station. I had no idea there was more parking across the bridge. Upon our arrival, we were never informed of any itinerary change. There are porta johns on site & bathrooms on the train. The train is nice. The 2 story carts were cool. The route was not scenic. Instead over grown trees, homeless family's tents, trash, & muddy flooding Delaware River. During our ride, we were informed of the great corn maze & the mine. I was eager to find the answer to how mashed potatoes relate but after the great stories, we are told Sorry no corn maze or mine. Thanks for informing my family after we all got excited to experience the answer to the riddle & the experience. I would have cancelled had I known. I wouldn't recommend paying full price. Thank you to the volunteer workers, we appreciate you. The snack area was very slim pickings. I went once but doubt I'll return. There is much to be desired.

We took our grandchildren ages 7 and 10 on the Pumpkin Train today. The train was about 30 minutes late in arriving to start our excursion. The train had several coach cars for the many families there to enjoy a great fall day. With the temperature near 80 degrees we were a bit concerned we would be hot on the train but with some open windows and fans it was not too bad. The train chugs down the track at a leisurely pace with a recorded message played over the speakers that explains the railroad and other landmarks you encounter along the course of your trip. They have a gift shop on board that offers drinks and snacks or you can bring your own if you choose to. The route runs south to the end of the line, drops off for a winery stop, then returns north to stop by the corn maze and gem mining attraction. The corn maze has 2 different courses you can go through and find markers with punches to mark your progress. We only did one course as it was quite hot in the field. The grandchildren enjoyed the mine with the gem stone slucing and geode cracking stations. You then get on the next train to continue on to the pumpkin patch. It is not a real pumpkin patch but picked pumpkins laid out in front of the historic lime kilns on some bails of hay for each child to choose one to take home. It is then a short ride back to the station to complete the trip. We paid $60 for 2 adults and 2 children for the train, then 5 more dollars each for the corn maze and about $18 more for the mining for our grandchildren. This excursion took us about 3 1/2 hours to complete and our grandchildren enjoyed themselves so even though it got to be a bit long and pricey it was a good time for us all.

I went to a Thomas Train event with my family and a kid. We paid $37/adult for a package that included rides on the Thomas train and the Mine train, each lasting about 30 minutes. My 2.5-year-old kid really enjoyed the fancy decorated train. We first rode the Thomas Train (not air-conditioned), took photos, and then rode the Mine train. The Mine train took us to a station where we learned about New Jersey mining and fossils. We got a bag of sand from which we could find different types of stones. There were tables, portable restrooms, and games for kids near the mine. They also had a maze garden. After all the activities, we caught the train back to the starting station. There were plenty of snacks and toy options available. The event had three parking lots. One was close to the train and cost $20, while another parking lot was free and about an 8-minute drive away. They had shuttles running every 15-20 minutes to bring passengers from the free parking lot.
