When it comes to my cuts, I tend to stick with ONE guy at ONE shop once I find someone that cuts how I like... He may not be the best in town, he may not do all the crazy designs/etc, he may not have the cheapest price/etc... With me, none of that matters: If I like him, i'll go to him... Even if he doesn't quite "nail" my cut the 1st time, i'll go back & give him another shot to see if he cuts it a little better & i'll come back AGAIN as long as he doesn't make the same mistake he might have made last time... In other words, even as someone who doesn't exactly have the fastest growing hair, i'm VERY forgiving compared to most people I know, & i'm that type of faithful client that will continue coming to you AGAIN & AGAIN as long as you do a good job, respect my time & don't leave me hangin &/or lookin stupid... I showed up 15 minutes before my appointment time (aka- EARLY)... I walked in & saw that another dude (with less than an inch of hair on his head) was in my guys chair... Looked like he was about done, so I convinced myself to just chill out & wait; An hour later, the SAME DUDE was still in the chair & I was still waiting as I watched a few other people slide into the shop before the doors locked at 6. In the end, I left with no cut as I had somewhere to be at 7, & had my barber been better about his time management & handling his clients I would have been in/out of there in good time. Yo, I know it ain't easy cutting hair, & people are human: I can understand it taking another 10-20 minutes (past the time you expected) to wrap up a cut & tbh I had built that into my schedule when the appointment was set. But when you can't wrap up a cut within a 10-20 MAX buffer following what is supposed to be the start time of another clients appointment, then you probably shouldn't be setting appointments because you (&/or the people you work with/under) OBVIOUSLY aren't on that level yet.
If I can set an appt down the street & dude practically has a werewolf in his chair yet consistently finds a way to give EVERY client a quality cut & get the next "scheduled" client in his chair no more than 20 minutes after their scheduled appointment time, then why can't you do the same? Terrible experience yesterday & I doubt i'll be back. If I was the barber & had a client in the position I was in yesterday, I would be like "Man i'm so sorry, whats the best time for you? Come by the spot & I got you" or "How can I make this right? Next cut on me, let me know what time & i'll keep my chair open till you get in".. SOMETHING to make it right, but I definitely got nothing close to that & most certainly didn't get the haircut I set an appointment to get. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt & i'm a good tipper once I have the means to do so, but when you waste my time you lose my business. Sad part is I could've just sat in another dudes open chair IMMEDIATELY when I walked in the door (because he definitely offered), but nah I wanted to be dedicated to my guy, so I just waited. So to sum it up, I had an APPOINTMENT, yet an hour & 15 minutes later I walked out with no haircut, with all other shops being closed by that point (leaving me with no other options but to completely re-arrange my schedule today &/or this weekend, knowing that I have an important event coming up & don't have time to spend half my weekend hunting for a new barber). The lack of professionalism makes this entire shop look bad. BOTTOM LINE: If you don't value your time, then you should be ok here; If you DO value your time, then please be advised & forewarned that your time just might be wasted if you do business here. Lastly I look for craftsmanship; a good haircut can make you feel like a millions bucks, and Ace of Fades barbers are all on point.
