Run Forrest Run!!
I have to tell you that I have some expectations as a customer of what to expect when I go to any business and this was just another example of a company not knowing who pays their bills and who they are in business to serve. The moment I walked in everyone was super busy and no one took the time to greet me.
Once I was able to get someone's attention, she did not smile or make me feel even remotely welcome. Especially as a new client I would have thought that they would have given me a warm welcome and let me know they appreciated me coming in for the first time. It would appear that the staff is not aware of who pays their bills and that they are not concerned if their clients feel welcome or not. As customers we deserve to be treated like more than just a stupid patient who solely exists to serve their needs.
After getting the worst customer service I have ever had in the medical industry, I was taken to a back office where I was forced to have my picture taken. I am not sure why I let them take my picture but I agreed anyways to which now I am very sorry that I allowed them to do.
I was then asked what I was there for which surprised me since I was sent as a consult. I would have assumed that they would have had all the details of why I was there so now I have to explain my issue which by then had pretty much cleared up and I was following up with to show them that it was doing much better now. Well, how are they supposed to make any money off me if my issue is basically gone now?
So the assistant started pointing out issues that do not exist and I felt like I was being set up to go through some other treatment plan for something other than what I had come in for. Sure enough the Nurse Practitioner Tirsa Quartullo comes in and was overly friendly, complete opposite of what happens at the front desk, and this just felt very disingenuous. She asked me what I was there for so I explained my issue for the second time. Not even listening to what I was there for, she started making statements that lead to the conclusions that the assistant had made which were false. It really felt like the assistant was working with the Doctor on a commission basis and is prompted and rewarded for leading people down their little melanoma scheme. Well after all, she is the brilliant educated doctor and what do I know anyways about my own skin anyways.
She stated that because we live in the desert our skin naturally will get damaged and that mine was really bad which was a complete bunch of gibberish and she totally blew off what I was there for and proceeded down her melanoma sales pitch and suggested I use some kind of cream that will basically make my head turn very red and pretty much burn all the skin off. IMHO, this was an attempt to make a mountain out of a mole hill and not only prescribe me something that I did not need, but to actually create an issue now that would have me coming back again over and over again for follow up treatments. $$$$$$$$
I have to assume the doctor is getting kickbacks from the pharmaceutical company for pushing their chemotherapy skin cream or just using this treatment as a way to keep me coming back for more visits since the cream basically burns the entire skin area and then gets crusty and bleeds and scabs up which I am sure would have kept me coming back for many follow up visits.
So what should have been an opportunity for them to make a nice new customer and treat someone with respect and gratitude for being a new patient and actually treat what they had come in for turned into me getting a sales pitch for a condition I do not have in an attempt to make as much money as possible from my insurance company.
I will be contacting my insurance company about this and letting them know that the doctor is pushing for treatments that are unnecessary in an attempt to make more money. I would not recommend this company to anyone unless you want to be treated like an idiot and get pushed into a treatment that you do not need so that they can make as much money...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe office staff was kind, not super friendly, but kind. I got back into the room after an hour of waiting (which is fine and to be expected)... but the doctor came in and asked me why I was there. I shared with her that it was to establish care since I am new to Arizona and have seen a dermatologist every six months since I was two months old. I was born with a skin disorder and I was in and out of Hopkins for months, while doctors and students studied my rare case of epidermal nevus. It is a rare case because it is only on a part of my body and has greatly improved over the years, but it is still very much present. She was extremely rude, she completely dismissed my diagnosis and told me that I was wrong and that she had ever only had one patient with that condition and it was nothing like mine. Then she continued to look it up online to prove me wrong and when I told her that the images were exactly what my conditioned looked like years ago, she stated "Oh, my patient actually had a different skin condition." She thought my diagnosis was incorrect, which is fine but when I asked her what she thought it was, she said "well you would know since you went to a prestigious hospital"... and used terms like "what is it you THINK you have?", "aren't you a lucky one since it disappeared?", and "well if you had that condition you would have a deformed baby." Well Doc, I can't have my own children so thanks for being so cruel about that one... thank you for dismissing my condition and how I feel about it on my body, and thanks for being rude. At my previous dermatologist, my doctor was measuring and photographing spots because skin cancer runs in my family and I have had pre-cancerous basal cells removed at just 24 years old. This doctor gave me a quick look over, told me those same spots weren't anything, to come back in a year if I want to, and asked if she missed anything. Isn't that her job to check over everything because I AM NOT A DOCTOR? Thanks for your time, but I will not be returning here. There is no bedside manner and she made me feel confused, horrible,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had an appointment set up at 2:15 PM today. I have taken my son here many times for his eczema, which the times before, staff was super helpful. This time however, I was running a little late coming from work. I called the office at 1:59 PM to tell them about my appointment today and that I was going to be a few minutes late and if that was ok. The lady receptionist that helped me told me that if I was an established patient than I would have a 15 minute grace period. Long story cut short, I ended up getting to the place at 2:32 PM. I know that is considered late since my ORIGINAL appointment time was at 2:15 PM. Where I am having a problem is at how they handled the situation when I showed up. The lady receptionist went to the back to ask if I could still be seen, she comes back and lets me know that we will have to reschedule. I ask if they can make an exception since I was only 2 minutes late, she goes on to tell me that Iām 17 minutes late? I donāt understand why on the phone I was told that I had a 15 minute grace period, but when I show up to my appointment only 2 minutes late and ready to go, you guys now want to play games and say that I was 17 minutes late instead and not wanting to see us and having to reschedule. I donāt know what else to say besides that I am VERY DISSATISFIED in the customer service aspect of this company. You shouldnāt turn someone away for coming in 2...
