This is a small family owned and operated business or what I like to call a hole in the wall. You can dine in or carry out but there's really no structure. The counter is in the back of the building so you don't know whether to seat yourself or order at the counter. We usually go to the counter and then seat ourselves but they never ask if we're dinning in or carrying out so our food is always served in take out containers regardless. The atmosphere is quiet. There's no ambiance but it is peaceful. The amount of food you get for your money is impeccable and it tastes great. You can serve 2 people with one plate. We ordered jerk chicken and curry chicken. Both platters are served with peas and rice as well as mixed cabbage with vegetables. The peas and rice could have used a tab bit more salt but the flavor was decent enough for me not to add it. The curry chicken is cooked with potatoes so there's an additional starch added with the curry chicken. The jerk chicken was smoked to perfection. If I didn't know better I would've thought they were pork ribs. The meat was tender and had beautiful pink smoke rings. There was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The pattys are made in a crispy flaky crust with a decent amount of meat inside. We've tasted other so called authentic "Jamaican food" however being this place is family owned and operated I believe it's closer to the island than Ocho Rio which was expensive and didn't quite capture the taste I was looking for. Don't take my word for it; compare for yourself.

This was my first time having Jamaican cuisine, and boy let me tell you it was a great experience! Their staff was very welcoming & kind. They recommended the ox tail for a first timer as I've seen in other reviews. My thoughts as the ox tail reached my taste buds were Oh my God this is good! The ox tail was delishously seasoned and very tender. The cabbage was some of the better cabbage that I've had aside from a corned beef and cabbage dish. It was served with a heaping serving of rice. My friend and I paired our meals with pineapple soda. 😋 As we were paying for our meals, and having small talk with the staff I mentioned that she loves curry. To our surprise they gave us a free sample of the curry soup. Another hit! If you're looking to try Jamaican cuisine I highly recommend going here. I will continue eating at Cood Vybz trying a new dish each time.

In response: with all due respect, If a customer is paying $33 for a side of anything it should be portioned accordingly. Instead of apologizing for this less than worthy portions you want defend your price. You can price your food however you want but please be consistent with the portion. Both sides have less than normal and most of it was bone and fat. I come here regularly. But this is the most disappointing experience. I ordered 2 sides of oxtails which came to $33. This is what I was given…I’ve ordered sides of oxtail before but this is just insulting. If I wasn’t 8 months pregnant and tapped out from the day I would have returned this. But this will be my last visit. It’s one thing that the service isn’t always friendly or the food portion isn’t always consistent but this is unacceptable.

So I was going to post about the poor customer service at this establishment but if you read through the responses to the valuable feedback that is being given to the store you can see what I am talking about. Rather than thinking about how they can do better to win back repetitive business the person responding is turning the blame back on the customer.....Wow, I have never seen anything like it. I had the oxtail - I would rate the food as ok but a bit pricey for the quality - however on the plus side the serving size is large enough to feed two people so I guess that makes up for it. My plight however is more so on the lack of good customer service (which I am sure I will get a defensive attack and told "good luck")...smh. I first tried to call my order in but was then told they don't take phone orders, so as to not inconvenience the store I went by to place my order. I approached a welcome sign at the door that states "no sign, no service" which I have no issue with at all, so I put on my mask - however if that is the expectation of the customer then that should be the standard exhibited by the staff. The lady up front had no mask which would have helped given it would have hidden the "I hate my job" look on her face. She was unfriendly, unwelcoming and unhelpful. I am all for supporting small business but in turn this does not negate the expectation of good service and quality in food. Nonetheless, since i can see from other constructive comments that nothing will be done to improve in this area I will take my happy feet and spend my money elsewhere. No need to wish me luck, I am not the one trying to win anyone's business.......

Response to Owner Comment: I do not expect you to remember because if you had you would have remembered that there was a customer already in the store when I got there. The lady at the counter wore NO MASK throughout either transaction, but that is neither here nor there. I only hope that you take the feedback as constructive and make the necessary changes. That is how you WIN and KEEP new...

I had a horrible experience at this restaurant 😒. I really wanted Jamaican food so I went online found a place nearby and ordered. For some reason it went through Postmates.... I don't have a Postmates acct and it was not offering delivery, so I was confused about how Postmates was involved. I go to pick up my order and when I get to the restaurant I track my order and it says it's been picked up! I never picked it up. So I call inside and the lady said u didn't come pick it up, I'm like I am in front of the store. After 10mins of noone bringing it out despite the BIG "Curbside service" banner out front, I went in to get it. the lady tells me the order was never processed. I show her the confirmation email and she basically said she doesn't owe me anything and I was charged with a receipt and did not receive my food! I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.!!!! If you can't treat your customers right shame on you! I don't expect her to trust my word but I had a receipt with her company logo on the top of it charging my account and she was very rude to me and did not take care...
