Hold on, wait a minute, I'm about to put some love into it... This review that is. This is a haircut AND beard trim review! I've been looking for a Barber shop that can cut my hair at any length, long (as it was for this visit) to short (I watched a serious fade take shape just next to me) AND at the same time trim my beard the way I want it (yes I'm picky) and the crew (Zakk specifically) at Matts was the best I've found in 6 years here in Phoenix. I haven't even started on the environment, take your kids, get your hair cut, sit and chill while a fun movie plays while you wait. This gets my Hidden Gem award for this month no question!

Matt gave me the full Brittany (hair shaved off). I opened the door he immediately greeted me and pointed towards a vintage mini fridge. I was nervous, he heard me out and shaved my hair to where my curls fell into a ziploc bag. Chosing to have your hair shaved off is a big decision, he respected that. He communicates each move he's going to make and thanked me for trusting him with the task at hand. His attention to detail is amazing and I look forward to going back. On the way out you can help yourself to a water. Cash only. Eccentric.

at first I thought paying $50 for a hot shave was kinda alot, but man is it worth it. From the decor of Matt's shop littered with pop references and the movies, books to read, video games to play and much more. The shave was fantastic, he was a great host that understood what I wanted from my shave. The a massage at the end, it was a true experience that I will be willing to pay for again and again. Thank you Matt, you have a customer for life.

I visited Matt's twice and both times I left before getting a cut. The first time there were about 6 people ahead of me so I wasn't waiting. The second time there was only one person so I settled in. Unfortunately, there was an action movie playing on their TV and it was super loud. Also I thought it was super unnecessary, because it was 9am in the morning. Not a fan of listening to crashing and exploding noises while getting a haircut. A relaxing environment seems more appropriate. I said ok, I can try and deal with this though. Initially, I also had some reservations about spending $40 for a haircut and then I saw it. I read a sign that said haircuts will be $60 starting 11/1. Who in their right mind would spend $60 to get a haircut? I understand raising prices to cover rising costs, but how about $45? I said forget it. This business is open from 8am-10pm most days so they should be making enough money. You just can't justify a price increase of that magnitude. It's just a haircut and it doesn't matter how good you might be. No haircut is worth paying on the wrong side of $50 for and I really don't care how cool your decorations are or that you're in downtown Phoenix. It just...

I stopped by for a walk-in on my first visit, and Matt's is now my go-to. I'm not a sci-fi person, but I still loved the barber shop and here's why. It's 115 degrees outside as you approach the old adobe-style building wondering if you're in the right place. You open the door to what feels like a cigar lounge... a dark, cool, and cozy living room adorned with movie memorabilia, and the refreshing smell of a barber shop wafting through the air. High-back leather chairs are scattered about the room and a classic movie is playing on a large TV (maybe something you haven't seen since being a kid in the 80's). Matt/Luis will holler from an adjacent, well lit room with 2 barber chairs "Be right with you, take a seat." No sign in needed, he's paying attention. With only 2 people ahead of me, my wait flew by... I could have sat in that chair, watching an obscure movie all day. The cut was solid (my SO immediately approved) and the cost was very reasonable. If you like sci-fi movies, they'll banter with you, but if you're quiet like me he goes ahead and does his thing. Friendly, professional, efficient. All around a...

On a plane home last night in need of something new. Found Matt’s because of the operation hours. I’ve never been to a barber before, and I left absolutely blown away. The vibe while you wait is top notch. Watching ghost busters, a plethora of super cool and interesting things to look at while you wait. Issac helped me this night and is a super cool down to earth gentleman! I’m very picky about my hair and usually remain loyal when I find someone that gets it right. Well, he got it right! Working for Vuitton has me focused on the client experience, this is definitely Vuitton quality service! He made sure I liked it every step of the way. Issac is truly a talented barber and it was an absolute pleasure to spontaneously stumble upon this...
