Visited the uptown location off 7th St. Cute place and our server was fine and friendly. The food? Nothing worth going for whatsoever. Tried what they’re known for, well, I’d rather eat a Costco rotisserie chicken. Theirs is a thigh and a breast with a very small portion of mashed potatoes and menu reads broccolini but I subbed mine out for Mac and cheese. The chicken was incredibly dry, the mashed potatoes and gravy tasted burnt and the Mac and cheese was hard, not cooked enough and not cheesy enough. Sent it back and by the time everyone at my table was done and we had been sitting around, my replacement meal came out. I realized then I should have just not ordered anything.
For about $20ish per plate, there are way better restaurants to go to. We ordered an appetizer (mozzarella sticks), an order of chicken wings (probably get about 8), and rotisserie chicken dinner, as well as an iced tea, and a pepperoni pizza (having sent my chicken dish back), our bill came to $70. Husband who isn’t terribly picky, said wings by itself without the sauce were ok, said the dry rub is better than the sauce. The photo shows how they are served (not tossed in sauce). A friend had the pot pie and I tried it. Nothing great. Another friend had a Detroit style pizza but I didn’t try it. At the end of the day I say hard pass. Wish I had...
Read moreI have to admit, every time I’ve driven by since they opened, I’ve thought to myself I have to visit. I finally caved. Took a friend from out of town and she was very happy as well. I ordered the chicken pot pie—last I had was in Louisiana and this was just as good! The edges were perfectly crisped and the filling was delicious! (Careful…it’s very hot! And it does come in a black cast iron mini casserole down.) My friend orders the chicken fingers and they weren’t overly breaded—they were just right. The chicken was flavored just right and it was moist, as well. We decided to order dessert and, per our server, the warm butterscotch cake with vanilla bean ice cream would not disappoint. He was right. It was absolutely delicious and I definitely will be back…if anything, at least for a dessert visit.
I had the margarita drink and my friend a mimosa. Both drinks were incredible. My margarita had that punch and, it was a little strong, but to be honest, it was perfect.
Great atmosphere and pretty cool decor. Thank you. Great...
Read moreI have wanted to try Doughbird (Arcadia), a family-friendly neighborhood restaurant and bar. It is known for its house-made Detroit-style deep-dish pizza, rotisserie chicken, salads, sandwiches, and entrées.
Doughbird offers happy hour Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The happy hour deals are available at the bar and patio. They include 50% off beer and wine, $8 select signature cocktails, and discounted appetizers like Shishitos, Hummus, Truffle Cheese Bread, and Caesar Salad. I took advantage of their (Doughbird10) promo and got $10 off my first online order. We tried the deep-dish Margherita pizza; to please my wife, I added Italian sausage to please me. Detroit-style pizza has a thick, airy, and focaccia-like crust. The key is the crispy, cheesy edge achieved by baking it in a pan with the cheese extending to the sides. Their pizza has a tangy sauce; we enjoyed the fresh mozzarella, sausage, and basil. My only complaint was the pizza is a little small for the price, but the flavor and taste were...
