LA fitness as a gym is honestly a very solid gym that has what you need to get in great shape. BUT LA Fitness as a company is horrible. I move a lot working different jobs. I moved from Arizona to Minnesota to Missouri and I called several different times to cancel my membership and was told I am unable to do it over the phone and that I have to show PROOF that I moved and send it to their corporate office in California. Are you kidding me? They will make you jump through Hoops.
I have called several different times.
I called again recently and spoke to the manager Cyrus and after I explained to him I cannot walk in person and cancel he finally canceled the gym membership but he said I will continue to get charged $160 monthly for the personal training contract til January 18th 2020 unless I pay the cancelation fee of $320, if not I will have to mail in proof to their corporate office that says I actually moved states.
So I asked how much is the Cancelation Fee? he said it is 50% of what I still owe and the number he came up with was $320. So I thought to myself if I am getting charged $160.00 a month until January and I only have two monthly payments left on the Contract which adds up to $320 how is that 50% of what I still owe? It actually sounds like 100% And it also implies that they think I owe them $320 more?
I have heard horror stories of people continuing to get charged several months after canceling their memberships. So I called my bank and told them to watch out for LA fitness trying to charge me after canceling, and NO JOKE, the woman I spoke to over the phone from my bank said that LA Fitness did the exact same thing to her and she went through exact same thing I did. I couldn't believe it. I think that says a lot.
Anyways, Lesson learned. I will never sell my soul to LA fitness again, I just wish they were more helpful in my situation their policies and how they do business just feels so shady and dishonest. I just hope it improves. LA fitness. When a member wants to cancel their membership CANCEL THEIR MEMBERSHIP especially when your member is moving to where they DON'T EVEN HAVE LA FITNESS.
I don't recommend LA Fitness until they've...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCOMMUNITY PSA At first everything about personal training will seem like a great deal until Phillip rips you off with any lie he has just to make a sale. And then when things fall apart, he will gaslight you. Example: My husband and I came in telling him we wanted personal training for four months because we were going on a big trip in June. He said thatās fine and thereās no contract or cancellation fee for us to do that and his goal was for us to only work with a trainer for 4 months anyways because he wants us to learn to be self sufficient. We came to cancel about a week ago and he told us we could not and that he had told us this already. He also said training would be for an hour and never mentioned anything about 25 minutes of training only. At first this worked out because our trainer worked with us for that time so we didnāt see the lie, but when our trainer left the company, we were told we only get the 25 and that he had already told us this. Phillip said some really great lies to make a sale, doesnāt have to be held accountable for the lies because now itās his word against ours, and at the end of making a sale he wanted us to leave him a good review because he felt he had did us a favor⦠by lying to us. Thatās why you see his name on so many great reviews because heās awesome at deceiving people. Please be warned. Read the full contract and take your time with it. I know I am not the only one who has had this happen to them. If you feel like youāre being gaslighted you probably are. He didnāt tell you the truth. Fix your review and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwkward experience.. I went into La Fitness after work a few nights ago because I decided it was time I tackled what I had been avoiding.. I also received a discount from my employer who gave me a variety of gyms to choose from. I chose this one first because it was conveniently close and wanted to check it out. I go inside and let the girl at the front desk know Iād like to look around so she says she will get someone for a tour.. I had my tour with āBig Mikeā, things started out normal, he seemed like a friendly guy. He started out by putting me on the stair master while literally still in jeans and my work shoes on level 8, and having never been on one before, I fell off. I was also accompanied by one of my friends, female, who he made us feel like we were a couple. She and I are both hispanic but she is more obviously than I am so he assumes Iām not hispanic and tries making these jokes about me calling me a āgringaā. Whatever. At the end of my tour I tell him that I liked the facility and will probably register online because I am still looking at my options. He then guilt trips me into signing up because he āgave me a tour and now wonāt be receiving credit for his timeā. The facility was nice and I would use it, but honestly wonāt because I would feel awkward running into the guy again. Have to find a less convenient location to go to. Also, he told me Id be paying $89 that day to start but I was charged $168 and I have...
