This week's hotel was the Westin Kierland Villas in AZ. very enjoyable stay, so here's my review #westin #kierland #villas #scottsdale #Arizona #AZ

We took advantage of the Westin promotion, staying here for 4 nights at $300 (plus $150 extra for staying near major holidays). Here's our review: The place is very nice, clean and meticulously maintained. Despite booking the smaller room under the promotion, we were upgraded to a spacious "villa" with a bedroom, living room (with a pull-out sofa), full kitchen, whirlpool, double sink, separate restroom and shower, and balcony with seating area. The kitchen was fully stocked, and any missing items could be easily requested. The amenities were good, including adult-only and general pools with a small slide, a well-equipped gym, dry and wet saunas, and a market for basic needs. Free parking was a plus, and there were plenty of nearby restaurants, although Scottsdale is known for its high prices. The villas, which are essentially one-bedroom apartments, offer beautiful views of the golf course and access to the next door Westin Kierland Resort and Spa amenities, including a lazy river, beautiful pool, small slide, separate adult pool, and wave pool for surfing. We tried the breakfast buffet at Faro and Brag, which was enjoyable (at $17 per kid and $34 per adult), and received a 20% discount on paid amenities at both locations. Overall, we loved our stay, although we didn't experience much service at our location due to its basic nature. However, we would never consider paying the full price of $1,100 per night. The prices seem inflated, likely to support their time share (or point system) sales pitch. The amenities don't justify such a high cost, especially considering food isn't included, and the pools at the villas are basic. If I had to rate this hotel based on it's full price, I would give it two stars. As for the sales pitch, it exceeded the promised duration, lasting over two hours. The aggressive techniques employed were off-putting; it's ironic that the harder they pushed, the less inclined we felt to buy. A truly great product shouldn't require such forceful sales tactics. Our salesperson, Robert, came off as quite arrogant. He attempted to poke fun at the idea of siblings of different genders sharing a bed, insinuating we needed more space and extra bedrooms. He also tried to convince us to separate our kids, who enjoy being together, into different rooms. However, they have separate rooms at home and prefer to be together during vacations. Along with these tactics, there were various other aggressive sales techniques that made me skeptical rather than inclined to make a purchase, especially from someone like him. Then, they brought in another aggressive closer, but the outcome was no different from the first encounter. People who are stable financially aren't swayed by artificial urgency tactics like "buy today for extra bonuses." Next, they took us to another room for a "survey" which offered a return visit for $800 to the same location ($695 plus $99 down) within 18 months, or $1300 for other Westin locations, both for a 4-night stay. However, this would entail enduring another two-hour presentation.

I travel pretty often for personal and for work and stayed in many Marriott and Hilton hotels, this one is definitely one of the bottom. I brought my family to a vacation at this resort, on a timeshare marketing package. We arrived at 3pm and still had to wait 1 hour for the room to be ready. My whole family has to wait in lobby for nearly 1 hour. When I brought this up to the presentation lady, she was pretty rude and lectured me that this is not a hotel, early checkin is not possible, which is very self contradicted coz she just spent 90 min trying to convince me their program is better than hotels. The room we got was what they called the small villa, which is basically a cave, with no sunlight in the living room and the kitchen is too small to do anything. A very small balcony at bedroom with no view at all. Plus the room is outdated and not even close to what 4star hotel should have. I requested an upgrade and even indicated I can pay for it. The reception didn’t check anything and said they are all sold out. As a Marriott Gold member I felt very insulted by this coz clearly they had room available as Expedia showed it. Very limited option for dinning, we can only order some breakfast at the small restaurant/gift shop onsite but had to go out for lunch and dinner everyday. If possible I highly recommend to avoid this place for any purpose.

Coming to Westin Villas is like coming home. As an owner we always receive the very best rooms in building 2,3,4 and 5. This last trip we had a room in building 5 overlooking the golf course. Not much of a view on the second floor but it's always fun watching the golfers sink their balls in the water. The Villas has everything you would need to cook for the entire week. We did however request an additional comforter for the pullout couch, which arrived shortly. The rooms recently received a makeover which improved Kierland even more. Yes to Internet TV. However I did find that the Internet was slower. Maybe this is due to all the off the users watching Netflix. Something I need to raise with the board. However I was still able to work. ||The staff at the Westin are incredible. I love seeing the same bar staff every year. Kevin is the best salesman at the Marriott sales office. He is the guy to talk to if you want purchase, trade or exchange your Marriott timeshare. However a huge shoutout to the maintenance grew for keeping the BBQs clean. Here are my tips and tricks regarding Kierland as an owner and frequent visitor:||1) Request a fire in the evening during the cold seasons. Ask the maintenance grew for firewood|2) Pool and hot tube is open 24 hours.. Hot tube is the best hotel ever|3) Use the gym and steam room. OMG!! |4) Daily happy hours. The best!! |5) Amazing BBQs, recommend BBQing in the evening. Get food from Safeway's a few blocks away. Get meat from Rusty Nails Butcher!! Omg their steaks are incredible. |6) Kurag coffee machines. Bring your pods. Kierland has coffee to purchase. Great onsite food.|7) Westin resort has a nice new bar! Wow what an improvement|8) Visit Kevin at the sales gallery. He is not pushy. Super knowledgeable and won't lie to you to sell you something|9) Must visit Westin resort. Pools are incredible. |10) Wow never knew pickleball was so much fun. Lots of pickleball courts at Westin. ||Can't say enough about the Westin Villas. Already booked for next year!! Westin Villas have created many memories and was my getaway during Covid. A must stay!!!||Additional item: Omg I left one shopping bag behind in the room which had a lot of new cloths that I purchased at Kierland Commons. Housekeeping had found the bag and stored it for safekeeping. Once I noticed the missing items I called Kierland. They had located the items and shipped everything back...
