I grew up playing and learning the game on this local Pittsburgh course in the 80’s and have many fond memories of its old layout. I learned how to play every conceivable hilly lie, blind shot, off center stance, imperfect lie, etc etc. And whatever it may have lacked in sophistication and polish, it more than made up for in the skills it forced me to learn, and which helped me tremendously over the years on other courses. I played the new course the last time I was home and enjoyed that they’ve kept a few of the old eighteen in the nine. There are some short two-shotters less than 300 yds that are driveable. Yes, the tee boxes are range mats but this is a way of keeping the price low and making golf accessible in an urban area. If you're looking to treat yourself to a lavish golf experience, this ain't the place. Read morePlayed this track all my life. Wont ever forget the first time i watched a well struck linedrive feed lovingly onto the green on one. Excited for the new building. Some really good looks at the city on this course. Time for proper tee boxes on all holes and some markers out on course. Always thought it would be great as a 9-hole course. Thankful to have course that's close. And the maintenance has definitely improved over the years.Likely to keep trying for that hole in one on number...
