They did an amazing job refurbishing a vintage Lenco turntable (from around 1980). In its day it was an amazing turntable. Over the years it had developed hums and noise from the platter - to the point where I wasn't using it. I took it home and plugged it in and it is quiet, and the sound is as good (and probably better) than when I took it out of its original packing!
I took the turntable home, plugged it in, and placed a recording of a solo Bach Partita for Harpsichord on the table. I chose it because it will expose any extra sound issues as well or better than anything. To make it a tougher test, this record (published by the Smithsonian) has probably only been played a couple of times since purchasing it in the mid-70s. Any extra sound could not be blamed on the record. There was NO EXTRA SOUNDS coming from the turntable. No hums. No buzzes. Minimum turntable rumble. I listened to a recording that sounded exactly as it should have sounded. I can only surmise that this outcome is due to the workmanship of the folks at Galaxy.
They also have a selection of used equipment (turntables, receivers, speakers, amps, pre-amps, etc.) at reasonable prices. Next time that I need to replace some components, you can bet that I will be returning.
They are personable. They are knowledgeable. They got my repair done in less than a week. The price was right. You can tell that they love what they do. They provide service with a smile. What more can a consumer ask for?
Other than pay them for the work that they did (which I did) I need to thank them. Hopefully this review...
Read moreIn 1980 I bought a pair of bullnose New Advent Loudspeakers with walnut veneer. I love these speakers, no others sound as good. After forty-two years of use, I wanted to get them inspected and repaired if needed. I took them to Galaxie Electronics where Vince, owner and electronic wizard, discovered that wrong gaskets were installed in a previous repair many years ago. Vince installed the correct gaskets and new crossovers. He was even able to find the original Advent grill cloth, which had gotten stained on one speaker. Thanks to Vince my Advents look like new and, better yet, sound like new. If you have vintage audio equipment that needs attention take it to Galaxie Electronics and have it...

The next issue was finding a good repair shop that could get them back to their former glory. After a quick google, I found that they were only 5 mins away in Squirrel hill! For some reason I never noticed the sign next to Jerry’s.
After dropping them off, they gave great status updates when I called, and after a short time I got them back for a super reasonable price. I’m sitting on my couch right now after just getting them back, and WOW they have NEVER sounded this good.
Highly recommend! Thank...
