I love coming to this fountain to sketch and paint either the statue or the cathedral of learning. It’s a very beautiful fountain and a very quiet place to sit and think. There’s a helpful informational sign that gives you a little bit of history of the fountain and some pictures from the past. Definitely consider coming here for the splendid views and tranquility.

I think we used to call this the “Bacchanalia” fountain in my student friend-group, not really paying much attention to it. I don’t remember why, it doesn't make sense, and we were totally wrong. We'd frequently see people with their feet in the fountain during hot summer days. And now, my son tells me that there are now signs saying “don’t go in the water”. Pfft. Follow rules if you so choose, but remember this: the meek will inherit the Earth only after the rest of us had fun puttin’ our feet in this...

I'm a big fan of this fountain. There are benches around the fountain for you to sit and relax and enjoy the fountain or you can sit in the wide smooth edge of it and in most parts not even get splashed a little bit.

Feel free too dip your feet and cool off, not sure if that's allowed but it's certainly enjoyable and as long as you're not wading or swimming in it no one...
