I ordered thru Uber Eats (who has become increasingly HORRIFIC in their own right) & asked the driver to 1) please call when outside & 2) please do not leave food on the ground...he didn't follow either direction & left my food in the rain, on the wet ground. I get my soggy bag only to discover that the instructions to PLEASE include plenty of sauces was IGNORED to the tune of NONE!!! IDK about any one else but I hate dry food. What Chinese place do you know that doesn't add the sauces?..well, I day, air fried spring rolls? (NOT a drop of oil OR flavor to be found!) I'M LIVID as it's a Sunday & I'd aimed for a decent meal. Oh, and good luck calling the phone number but then again, if I were a stoned college student trying to pass off old rotisserie chicken tossed in a jarred sauce for REAL Chinese food, I wouldn't want to answer all the calls demanding refunds either!!! Smh!!! NEVER AGAIN!...too many great Chinese restaurants in the Pittsburgh sea. I'll go try to enjoy my dry dinner...SMH!!!! Right?....WRONG!!! I open up the containers & what do I see? The DRIEST, MOST BLAND "CHINESE" food I've ever seen in my life!!! (See pics if you think I'm exaggerating) My guess is a) the owner is a college student or b) has alot of stoned college buddies that were willing to trade a great review for a free meal or both!!! Old food that's been sitting around alllll day, air fried spring rolls? (NOT a drop of oil OR flavor to be found!) I'M LIVID as it's a Sunday & I'd aimed for a decent meal. Read moreI used to go to Pitt, and liked these guys well enough to go when I didn't want the extra-greasiness of Szechuan Spice. But, despite it being awhile since I'd gotten food from here, I was still hesitant because I remembered the chicken always being dry.
But I really wanted bourbon chicken, and it's hard to find around here, so I went here. And it was pretty dry. Yeah, the sauce at the bottom helped (to reference the owner's apparent response to another review), but you shouldn't have to drench chicken in sauce for it to be easier to eat. And frankly, there wasn't enough sauce in the bottom to compensate for the dryness anyway. Pretty good if you're a stoned/drunk college student or can't eat super greasy food without it triggering your chronic illness, but I guess it'll just be awhile before I have bourbon chicken again. The flavors also weren't particularly strong, and in retrospect I think I should've just gone to my usual spot. Would've taken longer and they don't have bourbon chicken, but it would've felt more worth the money.
I feel like I've always ended up there later in the day, so I would suggest try going there closer to when they open, maybe it won't be so dry then.
At the very least, the little tent they put up against the front during the colder months is a...
Read moreI hate being one of "those" reviewers who liked a place for a while but never remembered to leave a review until the spot got bad, but alas. Anyway, Asia Tea House was a little spot that me and my friends used to frequent back when I was in high school. Five years ago, the food here was quite tasty and was well worth your money - same with the boba and drinks offered. Now? Not even close. Before recently, my last trip was in 2022 and the food was meh at best but it at least didn't make you sick. After getting nostalgic for this place, I was instead met with pieces of orange chicken that should've been called orange bricks instead. They were WAY too crunchy and somehow felt overcooked on the outside and extremely undercooked in the inside. How does this happen? It seems the consensus is that the food quality has gone done tremendously, so you should...
