Posting this from my husband's account:
I recently moved to the area and decided to go in to get a French Manicure. As I proceeded to pay for the service, I was asked for a tip by the cashier. I wasn't carrying any cash with me and when she (the cashier) found out, her body language completely changed and she was very rude in responding after this point. What was disturbing to me was the way she asked for a tip. She was very loud and did not care that there were other customers and employees around. Tipping is not mandatory and I would have left a tip for the service but I did not happen to have any cash on me that day. I asked if the tip could be taken from my credit card instead and she agreed. In the past, I've left gratuity between 10% and 20% of the total amount, depending on the level of service I received but I don't think that is enough for the staff here. They feel they are compelled to ask for more and wouldn't hesitate to bully you into paying more for a tip. I paid 30% in tips for mediocre service and the cashier looked at me as if she was doing me a favor by accepting that amount as a tip. I left feeling humiliated and taken advantage of. I think it is important for businesses to realize that forcing a customer to tip is not entirely ethical. Needless to say I won't be returning here again and I would recommend others to not go here either. Please save yourself the trouble and aviod an uncomfortable and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just moved into Plainsboro and wanted to check out ART nail salon because it is so close to my apartment. I called in advance to make an appointment and was told I could be taken right away. Once I got there I was rushed to a seat where a male manicurist began to work on my nails. (I get my nails done very often and I know what I like on my nails) I told the manicurist to cut my nails and make them somewhat square. He did not listen at all and instantly began painting my nails without shaping them or cutting back my nails. I assumed he was going to shape them after he painted them but I was wrong.
He RUSHED through my nails and moved on to another client without even waiting for my nails to dry. My nails looked terrible because he did not spend any effort making them look decent. All of my nails were misshaped! He didn't even put lotion on my hands or wipe off the excess paint. He asked another manicurist to fix my nails. I would never go back to this salon nor would I recommend this salon to anyone I know. I would rather drive the 30 minutes home to LUXI salon in highland park than to waste my time, money, and happiness on a nail salon like this one.
I ended up going back so the same guy could fix my nails and he hacked my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was a last minute appointment and there was one available manicurist to see me. She was fine, did an ok job. Nothing out of ordinary. Then, right after I paid, I didnāt even have the chance to think about the tip when the cashier asked for it and bullied me into leaving a tip (as far as I know gratuity is not mandatory in the USA). The cashier (not sure if sheās the manager or not) literally asked for my credit card out loud in front of all the other customers and employees when I said I had no cash. I kept repeating that I didnāt have cash on me (because she kept insisting tips are paid in cash) and then she kept asking for my card to pay for the tip. I paid the tip with my debit, and left feeling cohersed into doing it. Donāt get me wrong, I have absolutely no problem giving tips, I think itās fair as long as I have the option to decide to do it for a great service. This was a very awkward and uncomfortable situation that will stop me from returning to the...
