Cerletti & Kennedy Design-Build — Attraction in Pleasant Hill

We heard about Cerletti & Kennedy by way of the California Residential Mitigation Program’s Earthquake Brace and Bolt Program (EBB). Cerletti & Kennedy were listed as one of the several contractors who met the criteria to install the bracing and the bolting which is used to anchor the frame of the house to its foundation. I received phone calls and emails and screened several contractors on EBB’s list. I consulted the California’s Contractors State License Board’s website to check the status of the several contractors. Because I have worked in the insurance industry, I personally preferred those contractors who have workers compensation insurance. Eventually, I narrowed down my choices to three contractors. All three contractors visited our property and provided us estimates for the work. Matt Kennedy was our initial contact with Cerletti & Kennedy. He came to our home, explained the entire process, answered questions, and took pictures. On our behalf, Cerletti & Kennedy obtained the building permit and then, following approval by EBB, scheduled the work and installation underneath the house. Their workers were courteous and efficient. There was minimal intrusion into our home and a limited amount of disruption. Originally, Matt stated it would take three days to complete the project. But it only took two days for Cerletti & Kennedy to complete the work. On the morning of day three the city inspector crawled underneath our house, made his inspection, and then signed his approval on the building permit. Once our EBB application was approved, I endeavored to get a good range of quotes: I received seven quotes from different companies, even though only three were required. I had a smaller project to refresh the ADU in the newly bought property. It involved removing the stationary gas heater and installing some kitchen cabinets with a sink. Matt responded quickly to my inquiry and offered ideas on arranging the cabinets and materials needed. Their estimate was comparable to two other estimates I got, but thanks to Matt's involvement, I felt more confident about the scope of the project and the time frame. They fit my project in early in their schedule, and the work was done relatively quickly, with a bit of slack time in the middle. Matt put me in touch with the local cabinet supplier. I ordered the cabinets and bought other materials myself - that was how I preferred to do it and consulted with Matt along the way. This was my first time working with a contractor, even on a small project. I am overall happy with the result from a lay person point of view - the cabinets turned out nicely.
