My boys enjoy it. But I have some MAJOR complaints. I'm a single mom and have a baby AND a toddler, so when my 8 year old wants to use the think shop, he can't because I would have to contain both of younger kids in there (yeah right) while watching him craft. Meanwhile, there are anywhere from 1-3 museum employees who are "supervising" in the think shop, except, apparently that's not their job. I'M supposed to supervise all three of my children simultaneously or I get scolded by staff, which is next to impossible with three boys in three different age groups and with three different levels of physical ability. I am usually stuck with the crawler in the baby area and there are no options for me to take my oldest to do something more age-appropriate. Luckily, my middle still enjoys the toddler area right next to it, but he's about to age out of there (turns four this year). Then what? Then I'll have a walking baby, a preschooler, and a 9 year old. And I can't physically watch all of them play in the areas that are appropriate for them.
Further, when my youngest was a newborn, I would take him to the back to the, which has comfortable couches and natural light and is quiet, just due to all the commotion of the play area. So my other children were in the play area and my mom was there with them. But again, I was scolded for leaving them "unattended" and told that it what wasn't against "museum policy" is if I nursed my baby in the closet-esque "mother's room" with a hard chair and no windows that was near the entrance of the museum, nearly as far away from the play area as the back area! Seriously? Some of the employees (not all because there are a few who are extremely pleasant and I look forward to seeing them) come off as very self-important and end making me feel so incapable and unable, as well as frustrated because... WHAT'S A MOM TO DO??
Like I said, my boys enjoy playing, but the staff here can sometimes just ruin our day and with two (maybe three) boys with sensory processing issues, this creates so much chaos...
Read moreWOW! What a fun and interactive place for the family to come!!! We went here during a vacation and my son who is 2 absolutely loved this place. So many different interactive, educational oh yeah and FUN exhibits!!! We hit every exhibit in about 2 hours but if you have older kids that have a little longer attention span then a 2 year old you can make a day of it. The outdoor section was very nice with a playground, water area, garden, sidewalk chalk section and a few other things. Picnic benches for you to sit at not sure if you could eat outside I know you couldn’t inside. The inside was awesome too! I even had fun with some of the exhibits and watching my little guy smiling and running around made my day! There is a neat little water exhibit inside they have water gowns to put on but it might be wise to bring a second set of cloths depending on how intense your kid gets with the water. There was a town that included a shoe shop, post office, fire station, a house, a pizza place, ice cream stand, vet and a grocery store. There is a farm that you can take produce and other things from and deliver to the store. They had a storybook section that had some pretty neat stories you can read/interact with. Of course what children’s/family museum is complete without a music section to make lots of noise with. For $7 a person (under 2 free) and being able to come back the entire day!!!!! Well worth the money if you live out here or on vacation with your family it is a must to come and see. There is more stuff to do as well I just can’t...
Read moreWe have visited the museum once so far and plan to return again in the near future. I would really love to give the museum 5 stars because, the activities for the children are awesome, and my 2 year old toddler loves to interact with the exhibits. However, there are big kids that run around constantly and are never told not to by the parents or staff. This is supposed to be a safe place for the littles and it causes accidental injuries that could be completely avoided if there was more of a presence from the adults monitoring the play area. There was more than one time that a child came out of the play area crying because they couldn’t find their parents. For more than 5 minutes a child cried looking for their parents scared while not one staff member reacted. I do realize that lots of kids cry and I will admit that I thought the child’s parents were the people standing right next to him staring right at him. The worst part was when we found out that he was lost his own parents didn’t even know he was!! Please for the love of God watch your children, there are horrible people in the world and it is your responsibility as a parent to protect them from danger. Also $9 for the parents seems a little much considering we aren’t the ones playing. Other than the what Ive mentioned above the museum is awesome and I recommend it as long as you...
