I have been a REI shopper for over a decade since I climb camp and hike months out of every year. This location is 100% responsible for my change to other stores and the reason I now deal as much as possible with mom and pop shops. I spent thousands per year normally at REI. The bike tech here is the most incompetent imbecile I have ever met that a company did not realize was a complete idiot. He is condescending, rude, likes discussing things that are inappropriate I have no desire to discuss with someone who is supposed to act professionally, and his work is sub par for a premium price to put it nicely. It seems the manager at this store personally likes him, because no objective person could honestly think this guy belongs dealing with the public, or working with his hands unsupervised, but he is in charge of all the bike people, so it affects everything. 'Incompetence' is the polite way to put his inability to perform basic tasks most 10 year old kids who ride trails can perform on their bikes. Not only was his lack of professionalism and demeanor appalling, but the reaction of the manager when it was pointed out was the reason I decided to no longer give REI any of my hard earned income. Privately owned bike shops and gear supplies in the mountains made me realize that going to an 'all in one' like REI was a huge mistake I didn't realize I was making until after I switched. Prices are also much better, even after considering their...
Read moreI shop at REI pretty regularly and love the “garage sale” that is always present at this store. I worked with Aubrey last night who was great and helped me find a matching top to the base layers I found for my child.
Aubrey does a great job I’ve seen her there a few times and enjoy speaking with her.
I like this store in general as they sometimes carry the larger plus women’s sizes.
My only issue with the used/outlet gear is pricing. The base layers I got were smartwool. The pants were priced at $9.83, but some of the same exact pants (literally size and color) were $25.83, and around $15. The shirt was $23/25. I purchased two pairs of socks (exact same brand/style/size) that were returned at the same time by the same cashier. They were priced $10 apart.
The folks on that side do what they can within the policy to amend issues but it shouldn’t be be an issue. Additionally items that were outlet items on that side were literally cheaper brand new on the website (which we are allowed to return for issues unlike garage items).
I worked/managed for REI for 5+ yrs I have direct experience in knowing these are issues...
Read morePurchased a new bicycle from REI at 200 W Ridge Pike Ste 115, Conshohocken, PA 19428. It was a Novara Madrona 29er, size small. Now days, this is a pretty unique bike as it is one of the few 29er left in this size for women. We wanted a 29" tire for many reasons, including the fact that it is what we have on all the other bikes. Most new women bikes, including REI 2015 model, are moving to 27.5".
We were quite excited to find a good performance 29er bike for a very competitive price. This is to be our very first purchase from REI and we opted to have the bike ship directly to the store.
There were a number of errors made in the shipping/delivery/assembly process. We were very frustrated at the end.
Brandon, the bike mechanic in the store, wanted to make sure we were happy. What happened next really amazed us. Brandon help setup our bike so that we can easily use it in our indoor trainer or off road.
Brandon figured out what would make this customer believe in REI. When they said "100% satisfaction", they...
