Having married into the Howland tribe, I am not a neutral observer. This old house is the real thing! As you walk around, imagine what it must have been like to live there during the winter months with the only warmth coming from fireplaces. Imagine trotting out to the privy on a January night. My husband’s ancestors were hardy folks. . .but, then, so were mine—they were already living there when the Mayflower arrived.
