This past Saturday, I had the exciting opportunity to attend and watch my first professional mixed martial arts (MMA) event, Cage Titans 63. This was a particularly special occasion as three of the fighters who were participating in the event train at my boyfriend’s gym. We were both eager to go and support them, to cheer them on and provide the moral support during their fights.
Upon my first impression, the venue seemed quite compact from the outside. However, the building extends back further than one would expect, offering plenty of space and creating an atmosphere that ensures every spectator has a great view of the intense action unfolding in the cage.
The venue has multiple levels, which allowed for a greater number of spectators. It was clear that the design had been carefully considered to ensure that everyone, regardless of where they were seated, could watch the fight with minimal obstruction. The only problem was a lack of seats which meant that some people needed to stand until others left as it would appear that they oversold the tickets. I did enjoy the event, taking in every punch, kick, and submission attempt. It was more brutal than I had anticipated, but it was entertaining/exhilarating and I couldn’t stop looking...
Read moreWhile I'll acknowledge this buildings' rich history and the purpose it served over the years, it is NOT suitable to host most of the events it does and is probably one of the worst venues I've experienced and was an epic disappointment for the money that was paid for the seats.
The balcony/mezzanine seating are worse than the seats at Fenway Park. I'm a 5'2'' female and my knees were hitting the person in front of me because the rows are so narrow. Your legs are torturously locked in a bent position that stops your circulation.
Aside from that, we attended two separate shows that both occurred on particularly warm evenings and there was absolutely zero no air conditioning/circulation. It was hot, stagnant and everyone was miserable. When asked about why there was no ventilation, we were told that it had to do with an efficiency permit with the town of Plymouth and they weren't allowed to turn on the A/C before a certain date, which even if true is rather ridiculous. Either way, it's a disservice to your patrons so get it sorted out or don't host events and take people's money.
The only reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one is because the staff were...
Read moreBought tickets to the Voyage a tribute to Journey band months ago!! We were so excited to go and enjoy a night out away from home. The night turned out to be a total bust!! We arrived well before open curtain time and there was not a single parking spot anywhere in the surrounding area! We found one handicap spot about 4-5 blocks away down the hill in a tiny neighborhood. This ment that my husband would have to push me in my wheelchair back up the hill and then back to the Hall and stand in a line of other patrons that was wrapped around the corner and down the side street. There were very few handicap parking spots near the venue, none available. We also could couldn't at least have dinner at our old favor restaurant because all the paid parking was taken by the venue patrons. I would think it would make for low profits for the restaurant. We ended up throwing up our hands in frustration and headed home. Paid for tickets we couldn't use after an hour drive to and then back home for nothing! You almost have to book a hotel room for the night in order to get a parking spot...
