I wish I could give this zero stars. Let me explain.
I had booked two rooms here for a funeral. I was going to be staying 3 nights. The day that I get on my plane to head to LAX from my hometown, I get up in the air and find that I have a missed call and voicemail from this hotel. They wanted to cancel my reservations because they didn't have card information on file, and would do so before I landed and before I had cell signal, yet when I booked over the phone, I distinctly remember telling them each digit of my card, so this was horseshit. I was able to text my sister who called this hotel to clear things up. They got my card information again, and instead of fixing the reservation, they made new ones. I landed in LAX, and found myself in this shitshow with the hotel. So I get to the front desk and check-in and sort it all out. I thought that was the end, but no. The list of issues goes on.
No do not disturb sign. The inter-room door didn't have a lock, was completely unlocked to the next room. The bathroom door lock didn't lock. The bathroom drain didn't drain. The bathroom fan didn't ventilate. The room smelled of heavy mold and mildew. No chair for table. Appliances were unplugged. There was dirt under the counter. There was no notepad or pen given for writing things down, so I had to resort to using a napkin from a restaurant. The wrong room number was written on the bedroom phone. The elevator's inspection certificate was temporary and out of date.
I spent one night there and checked out the next morning. I did have breakfast that morning and it was also one of the worst hotel breakfasts I've had, but that is small in comparison to the other issues. I was so displeased with this hotel that I canceled the nights I was going to stay and instead booked at a Marriott nearby. The Marriott was night and day difference. I am truly in disbelief at the level of disservice this hotel has and its uncleanliness. It is the first and last time I will be booking with this hotel, and it has tainted my view of LaQuinta hotels such that I will now think twice before booking at one and will exhaust other options as a last resort. This hotel is the worst hotel I've booked at and is one of the worst hotels my family has had experience with. Again, the Marriott was much better. I told the Marriott what had happened and they were happy to get me bereavement leave discount, military discount with my brother in law, and the rooms were fully serviced and cleaned, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the rooms I got at...
Read moreThis hotel is made for tall people :) Doesn't seem like someone under 5'9" would be comfortable with how a lot of the furnishings are set.
It might seem like it costs a lot to stay here, but the next time you stay at Motel 6, compare it to this place and you will see exactly what you are paying for.
I really like the spacious rooms with their wide entry ways, large powder room area countertops, executive quality chairs at the desks, large desks, quality Samsung Tvs, refrigerators and microwave ovens. The toilets have the comfortable oblong seats, not those tiny circular seats. They also have hair dryers, steam irons and laundry service. There are no self-service clothes washers here.
I slept like I was in a coma on their high quality mattresses and pillows. Those beds are da-bomb. OMG. My partner zonked out in 3 minutes and thought the same about them. So comfortable. The beds are also set at butt level.
They allow postmates, doordash, etc. And I don't remember if they have their own room service
Light can almost completely be blocked out with their double curtains than can over the sliding glass doors which lead to a balcony
Air conditioners insorryerooms have a pleasant white noise sound that isn't loud
Breakfast is ok, but there are plenty of restaurants in the area
The lobby and breakfast dining area is huge has great seating, spacious tables and the pool and jacuzzis are sparkling clean and blue, not green.
Plenty of parking space near your room
A few pet peeves, but they weren't that bad: 1.Upon opening the sliding door, I noticed a fairly big spider web. 2.There was pigeon poop on the balcony ledge. Some of the furniture is scuffed, and "porcelain" is rubbing off the tub in some areas. Room had no trash can by the desk or in the room. There was one small trash can in the bath room. The shower and sink faucet water pressure was somewhat weak. In the morning I noticed a homeless guy rummaging through one of the 3 Dempster Dumpsters they have in the rear parking lot. I feel sorry for those people having to live like human rats. Welcome to the USA.
Off topic: There used to be a wonderful restaurant right next to this place that I remember eating at several times 20 years ago. Sadly it is now boarded up and defunct and seems to be a homeless person magnet, complete with all the trash, poop and litter they always seem to bring and...
Read moreOur room was clean but dirty all at the same time.
We stayed in room 233, which had a king sized bed, we found the room to be very spacious.
The Good: The staff was kind, and the bed was comfy. The sheets were clean—no signs of bed bugs. The towels were soft and clean. They have Dove products in the shower and sink area. Breakfast was delicious. They served bacon one day and sausage the other with scrambled eggs, oatmeal, various pastries, yogurt, fresh whole fruit, and my favorite, Waffles! The staff in the breakfast area was not just kind and incredibly attentive and ensured there was plenty of food up to the very end.
The Bad: Under the desk was a plasticware/napkin packet and a pill left behind by a previous guest. You could tell housekeeping had vacuumed and pushed them to the wall. The sheers and blackout curtains were not just spotted, but in dire need of cleaning. It had a small patio but no furniture to sit on and could also use a good spray down. The shower was out of body wash, indicating a need for better restocking. Behind the door in the bathroom dirty, and in need of attention. The bathroom is being cleaned, but they must clean it with the door open because that area is being missed. The iron appeared like someone had used it and melted something, a clear sign of neglect. It was black and smoking when we turned it on. We couldn't even use it.
The UGLY: The worst was the lid to the ice bucket. It was not just awful, but a shocking sight. It looked like someone used it to cover their food in the microwave. It was not just disgusting, but a clear sign of negligence. The food was not just caked onto the lid, but carelessly put back onto the ice bucket like there wasn't a care in the world. This was a disappointing aspect to an otherwise...
