Stayed at the Palace Hotel in Port Townsend, WA—once a brothel, now a boutique hotel full of charm and stories. Each room is named after one of the former working girls, and while some spaces have been modernized, others still drape you in velvet, florals, and full Victorian vibes. A little history, a little luxury, a lot of personality… and maybe a ghost or two still clocking in for the night shift 👻 #travel #pnw #hotels #getaway #girlsweekend #bestie #haunted #brothel #wildwest #washington #pnwsuzie #PalaceHotelPortTownsend #PNWGetaway #HistoricalHotels #FormerBrothelVibes #VictorianCharm #HauntedButMakeItCute #SpookyAndChic #CapCut @katiebug8420

As a woman by herself, I stayed at the Palace and felt safe and comfortable. I was on the 2nd floor, Room 5A, Miss Colleen. It was a spacious room and bathroom with a clawfoot tub and high shower, marble and wooden vanity with a copper sink and nice blood orange scented soap. The room had a comfortable bed, hob nail sitting chair that I mostly used and two wooden chairs and a table with leaves that extended to give you more room. The refrigerator was a good size to hold leftovers in the plastic containers I had brought from home. Microwave. Four pot coffee maker with a good supply of regular and decaf coffee packs for my three night stay. Real coffee cups and glasses for water. Good lighting in the room and the screened windows were left open which was nice. The windows opened partway and provided good air flow. The view was of the parked cars and lovely tree leaves provided shade and privacy, like being in a tree house. I mostly closed the windows at night which kept the room pretty comfortable. There is a floor heater next to the windows that you can turn on as well. Decor was a quilt, lace curtains, antique furniture. Victorian style lamps with tassels and an overhead light. It was like going back in time to the Victorian era or late 1800's which was fun. Jan Marie at the front desk was helpful and pleasant.

I knew this hotel was old, no elevator, and no A/C. But it was highly rated and one of the very few, which allowed only a 1 night stay. I'm glad we didn't stay any longer because it was not what I expected. We booked one of the apartments on the upper floors in late August. Big mistake if you have heavy luggage and trouble walking up large flights of stairs! The room itself was spacious and charming, matching the old style of the building. However, it was warm and musty due to the age, exposure to outdoors with windows open with a box fan, and oscillating fan at full speeds blowing everything around. I could feel my nasal passages and throat close up immediately upon entering the room! I am a very light sleeper and could hardly sleep that night due to my breathing issues, the noise of the fans, and the hardness of the bed! I found the only redeeming value to this room was its view out the bedroom windows in the morning and the location of the hotel itself in regards to walking around downtown. Our friends had an even worse experience when they opened the door to their room to find a spiral staircase up to the loft with a king-size bed. Needless to say, we won't be coming back to this hotel again.
