If I could leave -5 star rating I would, after working all summer long 6 days a week, 15 hour days. I finally got some time off, my mother and I decided to go down to port townsend for the day to spend the day together and hangout. We came across this mercantile store. Because it was colder than what we dressed for we had decided to go look at the stores jackets. While we were browsing the jackets/looking in the mirror. It got extremely crowded in the womenâs section so we took the jackets we were considering purchasing to the menâs section to see if they had other sizing options and a free mirror. We noticed that one of the employees was following us around the store, she proceeds to approach me and ask if she can take the jacket that Iâm holding to hang it back up. I told her no, it was an option for me to buy. I even emphasized that I was having a difficult time finding sizes that fit me properly and if I was going to spend good money on a jacket I wanted it to fit right. She looked at me and glared, walked away and proceeded to hide behind clothing racks and follow us around. Out of nowhere my mother is approached by this taller older gentlemen and he proceeds to harass her to take her shirt she was going to purchase. At that point, we were super uncomfortable my mother handed the employee (the gentlemen) the item due to the fact of us needing to use the ladies room, as we are using the ladies room, the door opens abundantly and low and behold itâs the female employee yelling âdid any of you ladies sneak or bring any merchandise into the bathroom??â I begin to answer her and said âno, we did not.â As we are exiting the bathroom, she is waiting outside the restroom door for us holding a hanger in the air, begins to harass us about what happened to the shirt that was on the hanger. My mother replies âI gave it to gentlemen to hold, while we used the restroomâ she turned and walked away. I glanced over and said âwe are not stealing anything, please leave us aloneâ she walks away and we just grab our previous items and checked out. At this point we are humiliated from being followed around the store, into THE BATHROOM and being questioned over and over. We have never stolen anything in our lives, this whole experience was rude, dehumanizing and extremely inappropriate & disrespectful. Amazing merchandise but horrible employees. Will not return. Overly embarrassed like I...
Read moreI love this little store. Actually it's a pretty big store. They have so many neat trinkets, treats, and fun things that are local as well as things that you see in other places. They have a great selection of soaps and other smell goodies. Jewelry, clothing, and other things that are neat to look at if not buy. I have found that when you go to a store like this things are usually marked up quite a bit. However, Quimpers prices are usually lower than other places even in the city. For example I looked at the Wave Tree & London soap which costs $8 a bar at Quimpers but is $10 to $13 for the same size bar on Amazon and otger retailers! Just one of the things they carry that are lower-priced than elsewhere. They bring in new merchandise frequently so I stop by whenever I visit Port Townsend. Highly recommended whether you're browsing or looking to buy something special...
Read moreShopped here and got a $102 ticket for parking in their lot from some parking enforcement company.
Edit with update: TY for the reply, I only left the 1 star to make sure it was brought to your attention. I love your store and hate that your sleazy landlords are doing this. I have heard others are getting the tickets even when they didnât pass the 30 minute limit. I suggest you put notices all over your store to tell people to get the parking validation QR code to avoid this. Even if they are parked for less than 30 minutes.
You should talk to a lawyer and look over your lease and see if there is a clause that states that the landlords canât do anything to actively hinder your business. Because this probably falls under that. Then sue the crap out of them.
In summary: Quimper is amazing, please shop here, but maybe park somewhere else for...
