Very peculiar tall fence around the whole playground (appears temporary) causing an unnatural separation from walkways and the connected splash pad. It also hinders access to some of the equipment. Many features of the park remain damaged and unreplaced over a multi-year period, especially the sound/music toys. SOME equipment has been repaired/replaced; unfortunately that didn't include any of the shade features so it remains unbearably hot with no shaded seats for adults or sensitive persons. There continues to be an ongoing, years-long issue with unsupervised preteen and older youths who are dangerous towards the littles and disrespectful of personal property. Could be a great park but even the many adults who come here are disrespectful of the public space (claim all benches by leaving their personal belongings and then walk away to the splash pad so there's no place to sit). It's OK, but there's better...
Read moreMy kids love this park, but we haven't gone in quite a while. Today there were 5 disappointed kids. Not sure why, but there were signs all over from the water plant apologizing that the water was all gone(splash pad, water fountain, and bathrooms. At the playground we found the handicapped swing is all chained up, some of the swings could definitely use to be repaired. The musical section didn't work😩the turf was torn or cut out with a knife or something. I feel that much of the damage was done by bigger older kids that know better and should have doing it. *Side note@ ~all of the kids in Portage have to do community service to graduate. This idea could be beneficial for the middle school kids too. Portage has tons of little public areas that get trashed and torn up. I feel that they could use a lot of hours to help the park department all over...
Read moreWe went here for the first time about four months ago and were blown away by how cool this playground is. There was a few missing parts and it wasn’t exactly sparkling new, but we would have given it five stars just for how many activities there were and it’s unique equipment. I went there a week ago and there was pieces of the squishy ground in the middle of the road leading to the park, many activities were simply impossible to do because they had been broken or the ground was damaged beneath them. There were many teens there slamming and being destructive of the equipment with no regard for the little ones running around them. It’s sad that some teenagers can’t be respectful of their communities. We...
