A perfect super fun day on the river - thanks to the awesome staff of Whitewater Voyages!! My first time ever doing river rafting was a truly wonderful and memorable experience. Chase our guide, was awesome and so incredibly knowledgeable. Chris was another super experienced guide on a different raft that traveled along with us. He was super sweet and he even gave us tourist pointers to continue to enjoy our weekend there. We did the half-day lower Kern River trip and I can't wait to come back here next year and do a longer trip. When I first called the company to explore my options, Luther, the owner was super helpful and informative. I booked it right away and whenever I called to ask them some more questions Luliia was super kind, friendly and patient. I purchased photos of our river trip and they are all so good! I will treasure this memory and the photos help keep all the fun moments so fresh in my mind. So here's how it went: We met at their location (inside the Frandy Campground) to check in. Chase, our guide, does a short safety training, Then they fit you in a helmet and secure your life vests and then load you in a big van and drive about 20 minutes away to unload and board the raft. You can bring along your sunscreen and water, there is a secure bag inside the raft for you to put your belongings in. Polarized sunglasses really made my eyes more comfortable on the water. The water was a very nice comfortable temperature - not freezing as I thought it would be. They stop a point where you can jump off this big boulder and swim in the river. The scenery is beautiful nature, slight cool breeze in parts, and very serene. If you do the day long trip, they provide lunch. If you do a 2-day trip, they provide dinner and breakfast as well. If you are still thinking about going - STOP - just GO!!! You will have a great time. I love this Whitewater Voyages company! I highly recommend them and can't wait to...
Read moreI'm a little torn with this review. The rafting part of trip was okay, but it was not what we thought we booked. When booking the trip, I very specifically asked if we would be put into the water up-river from where our group of people were staying. We really wanted to go past them on the shore. I was assured that we would be put in up river from the resort, and was told that our rafting trip would be between an hour and an hour and a half.
What really happened is my wife and I were lumped into a family group of 25 - all of whom spoke a language we do not speak or understand. That big group contained several small children. Because of that our group was put into the river down-river from our resort and our rafting time totaled roughly 35 minutes - which is about 1/2 of the amount of time we thought we paid for. There was a small child on our raft that pretty much cried throughout the entire time on the river, so our guide took things as easy as she could which is completely understandable under the circumstances.
If the person who booked our trip would have explained the situation to us while booking, we would have chosen a different time or length of trip. We did not enjoy being part of big group with whom we really couldn't communicate, and with whom the trip was severely toned down for due to the quantity of young children participating. And while most of the family we rafted with were gracious, more than one person in the group made it clear that we were intruding in their family adventure, which also made the experience...
Read moreMy family had a fantastic experience yesterday with Whitewater Voyages that we will never forget! We were a group of 8 (4 adults, 3 teens, and a young child) split into 2 rafts. Our guides were Grant and Cooper. Both guides were AMAZING. Our expectations were totally exceeded. Grant and Cooper were so knowledgeable and super fun! We felt so safe with them. Both guides totally built up our young one’s confidence, and although he was pretty scared on the first ride, by the second round on the river he was having a blast and not scared at all because of Grant cheering him on. This was our first time whitewater rafting, and we did the double lickity split. I would highly recommend it for first timers and families. The guides are super engaging the whole time, sharing river knowledge, recommendations for where to eat and things to see in the area, and just generally such a good vibe. The bus driver, Leah, is great! And the whole bus ride, the guides are having fun telling stories (Cooper even sang for us) and engaging with all the families. The safety briefing beforehand is very informative and you can tell this place takes safety and fun both very seriously. The equipment is all well taken care of and clean. Overall Whitewater Voyages exceeded our expectations in every way and we will definitely be returning again for longer rafting adventures. Thank you guys so much...
