Harry was a fantastic host/docent!!! He gets additional 5 stars!!! If you visit- ask him for a tour. There was another gentleman doing tours there and he had his guest pretty entertained as well- so maybe they are all good. I learned so much- from the building the museum is in to all different displays. They had outdoor exhibits and an area where they show weekly movies.

It offers so much rich history and many items are still in use like the truck that goes to car shows and parades. Harry is the driver.

I loved that they had postcards for sale. There is a post office nearby- it was closed on Saturday. So I’m hoping the museum can sell stamps for the postcards.

Aside from displays they offer many activities. I...

The Museum is a charming introduction to the local history. Kernville has a lot to offer in terms of local history, from a mammoth tusk found in the region, to film props and lore. The museum holds a rich collection of peices and visual aids through the eras and includes an outdoor area for talks and shows. Volunteers run the museum, and all are welcoming, approachable, and knowledgeable.

I recommend afterwards visiting the Research Annex if they're open (they're across the street). When I visited, the local heritage society was still in the process of cataloguing. They are all kind and friendly, and they have an impressively large collection of old books other incredible resources - I simply can't...

Great place for local history with a wonderful collection. We were greeted by 3 volunteers who asked if we preferred a guided tour, or if we wanted to walk around on our own. We stated that we would prefer the latter. Unfortunately, we were followed around by the volunteers & bombarded with questions & random facts. It was quite overwhelming & we would've preferred to quietly read & observe, rather than partake in a tour (as we stated when we walked in). If you enjoy socializing & talking, definitely give this place a visit. If you're more reserved & prefer to do things at your own pace, it's probably not...

So much great history! The volunteer staff here is really knowledgeable and they worked really hard on putting extra detail into each one of the displays. I learned so much about the current river Valley. I visited on a weekend and you can really tell that all the staff care about this museum. They have a wealth of knowledge and they organized the museum very well. I particularly enjoyed learning about the film history in the valley. I highly suggest stopping in.
