When I visited, it was subpar. There weren’t a lot of people so I wondered why my pizza wasn’t even up to little Caesars standards (not the one in lake Isabella either, that one is overpriced and not worth it). It was pretty expensive for an individual gf with cheese and a medium with cheese. The cheese was cold by the time it got to my table. I could see it sitting in the window for about 5 minutes because my table was directly across from the open kitchen door. Garlic cheese bread was like eating a dry pizza crust. Despite all of this, we were going to try again but unfortunately they only have a delivery radius of about 5 miles. Not like I wasn’t willing to pay extra for delivery, but it’s pretty ridiculous these places don’t deliver every where in such a small community. The woman on the phone also chuckled when I told her where I want it delivered and told me “Uh yeah this is Pizza Barn we don’t deliver there” as if I’m supposed to know you guys don’t deliver to literally across the lake. I was going to recommend this place even with the high prices and not quality food, but we will take our business and any visiting friends and family to Bakersfield. Or just say eff it and get better quality at the frozen...
Read moreFor me what carries most of the weight at a place that sells food is what relates to the food. This is the reasoning for my low rating. Atmosphere is good and lively. The service was solid and smooth going. Details on the food: We ordered the chicken zesty veggies pizza apart from the pepperoni pizza and some fried zucchini. Honestly, the chicken one did not have any flavor at all. I had to resort to dipping it in ranch. The veggies did not have any flavor, which means little to zero seasoning was used, apart from not using tomatoes that were nicely ripe. Then the chicken tasted like it was straight out of a rotisserie chicken bag. This would have been okay if the pricing were to match this. However, for the price, it'd expect for the chicken to be sauteed or something before being placed on the pizza. Anyway, the pepperoni pizza was solid. Nothing out of the ordinary. The zucchini were also solid. I'd say that the chicken pizza needs some recipe development, even if the price was lower.
Update: reading the reply from the owner, it was probably the lack of sauce. There was definitely no sauce. Thanks to the owner for a very professional and...
Read moreThe calzone was a mess and I loved every part of it. They pack that crispy doughy pocket full of toppings! You can choose 5 toppings, but if you choose just 2 toppings they stuff that thing with so many it would make your mother-in-law jealous. Now, let’s get to this Lickety Split Pizza. I ordered this pizza because it did not sound like something I would normally get, but oh lordy was this thing amazing! Am I late to the party? Were cashews in pizza always a thing? Also, the dough…the damn crust… what was that? The crust y’all are producing is so insane it honestly has me doubting most pizza dough I’ve ever had. It’s so dang crispy! Y’all make it so well! Wings to me were absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend them to everyone. They are crazy juicy. The only grievance the party I was with mentioned was that they would have preferred fried wings. Im not knocking them though.
Now it may seem im absolutely selling this establishment so much that I must be getting paid for this review; but no, I had such a good meal here and I appreciate them being in Kernville! Will...
