My anticipation for this place was sky-high. Glowing reviews, stunning images, and a pristine online appearance set my expectations soaring. Arriving promptly at 8:00 pm, the initial moments seemed promising despite the three-hour drive. However, the cracks began to show as I settled in for the night. Issues surfaced with the campground's operation, treating it more like a luxury resort with wristbands, car inspections, and an array of fees for basic amenities. Want to use the fire pit? Upgrade to a "premium site." Looking to fish? Opt for a riverfront spot. The real ordeal began at dawn when I ventured to the river for some fishing. Passing through what appeared to be an empty campsite, I was accosted by an individual claiming ownership, hurling profanities and threats. Even mentioning their connection to a staff member, they demanded I leave. Ignoring the confrontation, I started fishing, only to be confronted by staff accusing me of rule-breaking. Despite showing the vacant spot with no sign of occupancy, I was scolded and shown no leniency. Returning from fishing, I observed the staff member, possibly named Joyce, granting special treatment to the aggressive camper, with personalized signage and a falsified plaque indicating occupancy. Photos later confirmed the favoritism, with site 1 vacant and site 2 monopolized by the favored camper. You can actually see in the pictures the regular plaques vs the forged one she put up. My experience at this supposed gem turned sour due to mismanagement, favoritism, and a disregard for paying customers. I left within 20 hours and just checked in at the local hotel. Shame on you Frandy Park.

Have been going to Frandy for several years because of its location to Isabella Lake and it's family friendly environment. The staff are friendly and the spaces are large enough to accommodate most RVs. Yes it's in the middle of Kernville but that's a good thing if you're new to camping or just don't have all the gear to boondock. The only negatives are the dust, wind and early summer cottonwood flying around. They did try to cut down on some of the dust by putting down wood chips on the main roads around all the sites but for some reason they didn't put it down on the lower bowl sites (#26-31). We deal with it by bringing really large tarps and weighing stuff down with sand bags. Nothing you can do about the cotton except to find a place by the river and spend your day there or at the lake. If you don't want to tent there are the Wagons or local RV rentals company that will drop an RV on to your site.

Frandy’s offered us such a family friendly vacation! From the warm welcome we received at check-in to the rock painting sessions for the kids - this place exceeded all our expectations. The location couldn’t be more perfect (a 30 second walk to the water) with so many activities to choose from. We rented an RV which was dropped off and hooked up prior to arrival (highly recommend this to families) and our stay couldn’t have been easier. We had nothing to focus on other than family fun. The campground itself is immaculately clean (really…I’m picky and this place is CLEAN) and very well maintained. A pair of delightful baby goats scamper around the sites alongside a beautiful pair of Mastiff’s (best part re: Frandy’s is that it’s pet friendly. Our Mastiff mix puppy Bailey made all sorts of new friends while our Whippet just looked at everyone). Our first trip won’t be our last.

We stayed at water front site 7. If you want good access to the river choose 5, 7, 8, 9 or 16,17, 18. Really good spots. About 15 steps down the path to the river and clear view. No packing and unpacking to set up its just right there!. Very very easy set up at the river. There is trees and shade at certain points of the day, you just have to follow the shade if sitting at your site(we stayed at the river in the water with the ez up over us) No hook ups on the waterfront sites.(but the middle sites have hookups on some sites. The sites are no privacy between you and your neighbors. No exaggeration side by side so if you aint social or want privacy this is not the campground for you. We made lots of new friends lol because we are so close together. The fire pits are man made and no grills so make sure to bring your cooking stoves, BBQ or some type of rack to set on your fireplace. There are water spigots nearby for cleaning needs but be sure to bring drinking water. There we no bugs which was so freaking amazing to me. Flowing water is where it's at!

The edges of the river have slow to no movement so kids can splash around and bigger kids can definitely go further out. Seen teens going all the way in. Made my kids wear life jackets( just to be safe) but they probably didn't need them. It's not to deep right now but is flowing in the middle. You can fish here as well but I didn't catch anything but others did.

The campground has many activities for the kids ..volleyball, ping pong, connect four, teather ball, basketball. Horseshoes and the many many more.

Kids won't get bored here and with them busy mom and dad were able to relax.

There are Porta potties near campsites but real toilets by the showers.

Camp host enforces quiet time so just be sure to turn the music off at 10 and simmer down , or you will get a talking to. Didn't bother us though.

You're in town so a short 5-10min walk or 1 min drive and there are gas stations. Food places, a bar and grocery store.

Very good first time experience, we...

We stayed 3 nights in space #4. It did not have a grill, water spicket or electric. This site, as well as others, are waterfront but are fully obstructed by bushes and trees. The spaces are tiny, cramped and on top of each other. When we first pulled in we were perplexed on how to fit all of our stuff in such a small space even though we only had two tents and a canopy. During our stay we noticed the look of perplexity and disappointment when new campers would arrive. People near us moved spaces or stayed less than 24 hours. If you are super social and are ok with no privacy, this camp would be good for you. But you are literally within arms length of other campers and tents.

The bathrooms and out houses were just ok. Sometimes they were clean, sometimes they were not. The last 24 hours of my stay the the bathrooms didn’t have soap. On Friday and Saturday night it was really tough getting a shower stall because there were at least 20 teenagers pouring out the bathroom door. Showers were ok. Poor water pressure. They were not clean. Wrappers, hair ties, hair balls in the stall etc. One positive, we stayed near the out houses and they were constantly being sprayed down with sanatizing chemicals. Probably because of COVID.

Speaking of Covid. Don’t come here if you care about social distancing and wearing masks. No one does it! This is a mask free campground and most of Kernville is.

Moving on... The staff is great. Very friendly and hospitable. On Saturday night they had live music and they played a movie on the big screen outside with popcorn. On Friday and Saturday night, they enforced quiet time at 10 PM and asked people to turn down music and lights. However, on Sunday when half the park emptied out, people were wild till past midnight. Nothing was enforced Sunday night and RVs and cars were driving around at all hours of the night. One of the nights, campers arrived at 10:45 PM and did a full set up. It would be nice if there was a security gate to prevent people from coming and going...

First time at Kern River, first time "dry camping" our family went Glamping, rented an RV that was delivered to the Frandy Campsite, and we had all the amenities of home. If I had it to do over again, I would not be relying on the gas generator, the Campground offered RV hook ups to water, power and sewer, and that would be the way I would go!!!

We took advantage of clean porta-potties, and the flushable toilets and showers that the campground provides, everything was kept up really well, clean, clean, clean!

Loved the campground, and would like to come back when the weather is better, it was raining, and Cooooold! The high was in the low 40's, and the low was in the 20's...Sitting by the fire was painful!

Campground must be a lot of fun during the summer, and I bet it's packed! They have covered wagons you can rent with bunk beds, perfect for kids! Ping pong tables, cornhole, and air hockey, not to mention the river, rafting, fishing, feeding the ducks and squirrels, again weather permitting it's a really fun place to be!

The little town is cute too Kernville is quaint, and within walking distance, Husband, daughter and I enjoyed a restaurant across the road from the campground that had amazing river views, the name escapes me at the moment, but it starts with an E...🤔

We drove up to check out the Sequoia National Forest, to check out the Trail of 100 giants, we got 2 miles away, but the roads were slippery with snow, and our tires were slipping a little, so we turned back, but one day we have plans to return and spend a good amount of time exploring the beauty of our States national park!

All in All, I have ZERO complaints, we just timed it poorly, and that was on us...

I highly reccomend Frandy...
