This adorable little four unit property used to be called Adrenaline Watersports Lodge, which is why it doesn't show up on google maps GPS. The property consists of a main lodge with one large unit upstairs, two smaller units downstairs and a cottage. My group was is the cottage, which I highly recommend as it is it's own unit away from the main lodge.||||The management is spot on, with a courtesy call the day of my arrival letting me know how to check in. The cottage was clean and comfortable, bedding and towels were surprisingly first class and the water pressure in the shower is amazing (this is a big deal for me, lol)||||The property is right across the street from Riverside Park, where you can float, swim and BBQ. Behind the property is "downtown" Kernville with restaurants, bars, antique shops and river rafting outfitters. The Cracked Egg has amazing breakfasts and their French Toast is to die for!||||Each unit on this property is unique from what I could determine. It appears that two have actual wood burning fireplaces, two (including the cottage) have electrical fireplaces. The cottage has a swamp cooler, but we counted at least two wall air conditioning units in the main lodge with a swamp cooler on the roof. The grounds are well maintained, though if you come when the apple tree is ripening late summer, you may have to dodge fallen apples in the parking lot. The ones on the tree were delicious though! ||||As wonderful as this place is, there are a few items that could use improvement:||BBQ's are dated and worn. No lighting for the yard where the BBQ's are located, so BBQ before dark or have a flashlight handy. Kitchen supplies were minimal, with no BBQ tools...
Read moreJust stayed for two nights with my son and Grand Daughter ( aged 2 ). We stayed in the cabin down the rear of the property. To describe this cabin as 'Riverfront' is a bit of a stretch of the imagination. It actually backed onto a lane way. While it was quiet and nice to have separation from the other units, we did unfortunately have a few issues with our accommodation. ||We were forced to endure our first night with no hot water, and a temperamental gas heater that kept shutting off. There was a lack of proper lighting in the living area..just 2 small table lamps. The lighting over the shower cubicle was so non existent that our 2 year old refused to take a shower after the hot water was restored.|| The kitchen was very weather-worn. The sink plug was broken ( as was the one in the bathroom basin), the door of the freezer was also damaged, and the right front hot plate on the stove didn't work. The saucepans and frying pans were very old and verging on unhygienic. The cupboard doors were also filthy. Overall, the kitchen really needs a serious make over to justify the rental charges asked by management.||We notified the lodge at the time of our booking that our party consisted of a father and son, and small child. On arrival we were a little surprised to find only ONE bed. Yes, the sofa in the lounge converted into a bed, but that was problematic. Fortunately we had brought an inflatable bed for the child. My son slept in the bedroom with her, while I camped on the lounge as it stood.||Overall, we left a little disappointed. We weren't expecting 5 Star accommodation, but what we did get left a lot to be desired. Very difficult to recommend this place...
Read moreI was in Fresno for work and had the weekend to explore and was looking for a challenging hike. I found one near Lake Isabella and decided to head that way with no place to stay planned. I found this place and arrived about 6:30pm on a Saturday. There was nobody at the office, but I called and the woman was very kind and got me into a room over the phone since the doors have key codes.
I got the stand-alone building with mushrooms painted on the side. It was an incredible value and extremely clean. No bugs, no mess, great lighting. One note about the lights is that there are a lot of switches and lamps. There is a bright light in every room, but it might not be the first switch you see. The only issue I had was that I was a bit cold and couldn't figure out how to turn up the heat in the bedroom but that was likely my own fault since I didn't try too hard to figure it out. The bed has real blankets which kept me warm enough though.
The location is amazing as well. The town is quiet and has a nice little diner right behind the buildings. The riverfront is currently under construction for renovations as of December 2024. The views of the mountains are breathtaking from the room.
I can't recommend this...
