Fumerie is truly in a league of its own, and simply a world-class, five-star business. In the fragrance world, an absolute superstar.
That's the short of it.
I've had the pleasure of speaking one-on-one with Michael on several occasions, and he's always willing to take the time to cover absolutely everything, and does so with care and a genuine interest in bettering your experience as a customer. As a pretty verbose individual myself, it's always appreciated when someone lends their attention to engage in conversation, and never come across as impatient or annoyed.
Fumerie is one of two vendors in the US that works with Josh Lobb of Slumberhouse - that alone is reason enough to bring them your business, but the fact that Fumerie is in Josh's backyard, in addition to their genuine interest in, understanding, and knowledge of Slumberhouse - lends the impression that there's a special level of care and connection to the bottles, and paired with their unparalleled fair and streamlined release format, Fumerie is really a no-brainer when it comes to being the premiere place to purchase these amazing, rare, and highly sought-after small batch artisanal perfumes.
I will continue to bring my business to the company, whilst assuredly knowing that if ever I have a specific or nuanced inquiry, it will be answered with care, expertise, and shared enthusiastic interest, from one collector to another. Would love to stop in someday the next time I'm up in the PNW!
I can't think of a single complaint. Turnaround/shipping times are unrealistically fast, no absurd secondary price-markups, sample sizes and free samples with orders, free shipping options, a fine curated selection (including Slumberhouse!), and real, one-on-one, unrivaled customer support, should you have any questions.
I don't typically review businesses, but they deserve the support. It should go without saying, Fumerie is simply the best. I'll be a loyal patron for life.

Read moreFumerie Parfumerie is a tiny treasure. The proprietress is well versed in perfume, it’s culture and history, and the diversity of tastes that make up the passionate base of individuals who appreciate the art and experience of perfume craft. If memory serves, the owner came from the esteemed Perfume House - another local legendary perfume retail shop- where she spent many years behind the counter (I want to say 18 years but feel like I might be misremembering this information). As far as I am concerned, there is no competition between Perfune House and Fumerie Parfumerie as they are completely different experiences, aimed at different markets. Fumerie carries a pretty amazing stick of small, boutique houses that put it in line with some of my favorites in San Francisco (ZGO, Tigerlily). And yet they stock the famous French house Lubin, which I had looked all over SF for a bottle of “Black Jade” as a gift and came up empty handed last year. Find niche scents from Serge Lutens, Byredo, Orto Parisi, Aftel, Imaginary Authors and Slumberhouse (Portland houses), and so many more. This passionate interest and intersection in art and craft is what made me fall in love with Portland some 25 years ago - and continues to drive my love of this...
Read moreMy partner and I spent two hours here yesterday and were absolutely delighted by our experience. Michael is someone you meet and immediately know that he has landed in a position he was absolutely meant for. He took our word cloud and quickly found samples for us to smell that were more spot on than we could have imagined. Sometimes he could read your reaction and bring over a few more samples without any words being spoken. My sense of smell has never been catered to better. We came to Fumerie looking for a scent for my partner but ended up sniffing through samples for me too, and we left with a curation of smells we have been raving about to all our friends who will dare to listen to us for the last 24 hours. Q was also amazing and helped pick out a few perfumes we quickly fell in love with. We knew next to nothing about perfumes when we entered the shop and are still grasping at our new vocabulary, but we never felt like we didn’t belong here, even as seasoned perfume buyers who knew fancy brands by their french names contemplated chypre and accords on either side of us. We will absolutely be back and we can’t wait to bring our...
