Take the Introduction to Color Theory class! You won't regret it. Ryan was a kind, thorough, and talented teacher. His calm demeanor creates a relaxing classroom environment, and after day 1, I nerded out about color theory for an hour to my partner.😅 This class will help you in so many different ways in your life that you won't even realize. I initially was drawn to take the class to understand color foundations for painting, but since taking this class a few months ago, I have applied color theory to not only my painting, but to home gardening, fashion, home deorating, painting walls, graphic design, and photography. You will begin to see how colors interact in your everyday life, and I promise you will begin to have a new fascination and appreciation for color. By the end of the class, I was confident in learning how to mix any color to achieve the desired color I was looking for. Each class we worked on building our own personal color wheel (pictured here) and then we got to do a color matching exercise which was really fun each time. On our last day of class, we got to do a still life painting to apply all the color mixing techniques we learned. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in learning how to understand color. Painting has been a real joy since taking this class. This was also my first ever art class as an adult, and I didnt feel out of place at all. If you have an interest to learn, High Low Art Space is a safe and welcoming place for you. If i had endless money, I would sign up for every class. Thank you, Ryan!

I took the Oil Painting class with Ryan and loved it! Such a phenomenal studio with incredibly talented artists and teachers. There was such an openness and willingness to share knowledge. The space felt warm and comfortable. The instruction was impeccable and I am so excited to take more classes here. It’s a professional level lesson, but accessible to any level of experience. This was my first oil painting class, though I’ve painted acrylic for years and it was so wonderful to learn a new medium and tools to improve my painting in both mediums. If you’re thinking about taking a class here, do it! You’ll learn so many skills, meet cool people and flow out on creativity. Plus you’ll leave the class with three or four paintings you can hang on your wall.

High Low is wonderful and I had a great experience in my last class with them. I’m a graphic designer/illustrator, but I wanted to improve my skills in drawing faces. I took Noah Cotter’s Structural Portrait Drawing class and in just 5 weeks, I learned so many new techniques that helped me study and capture expressions and facial anatomy in a completely new way. Noah is a fantastic instructor with a really clear, gentle, and precise way of explaining concepts and guiding the progression of a piece. I would recommend this space and this instructor to anyone looking to try a new medium, improve at studying/drawing faces and people, or just generally invest in their skills. Sign up, you won’t regret it!

I had the pleasure of taking two classes, Intro to Drawing and Intro to Figure Drawing, this past year. Chaitanya was my instructor for both and I was blown away by how much I learned with his help. I started drawing during the pandemic, so I'm fairly new to the practice and could barely draw a square a few years ago. Chaitanya helped me form foundational ways of thinking and seeing while drawing an image from life. Structurally the class gave us plenty of time to draw, while Chaitanya gave precise feedback and instruction to everyone in the class one by one. It was more like having a personal tutor during some evenings. I still have a long way to go from where I'd ultimately like to be, but after discovering this place I feel like I'm much further along than I could have been. High Low is a great resource for anyone in the community. I really can't recommend them enough, and I'm looking forward to taking more classes as...

I would recommend taking classes at the High Low Art Space. I was apprehensive about returning to art classes as an adult. But from the beginning of my first drawing class with Maeve, I felt at ease. I have taken classes with all of the instructors, including oil painting with Ryan and charcoal drawing with Chaitanya, and they are all great at making me feel at ease while helping me develop my artistic abilities. I really enjoy and value the one-on-one tutoring I receive during each session, as well as how the instructors demonstrate the art we will be creating. I enjoyed taking drawing classes with live models because I was challenged to perform at a higher level because I was so immersed in the moment. Consider enrolling in classes at High Low Art Space if you are interested in developing your artistic skills in a fun environment with...
