I really really wanted to give this place 5 stars, food was amazing, atmosphere great! But the service was not to a good standard when I was here Sunday… there were 2 bartenders one male one female, the women took our order And when it came time to pay me and my friend were doing separate tabs And I requested to pay for my drink in cash and decided to just put my food on her tab since her card was the one working and I had to be issued a new one through the bank and I figured we could just figure it out at the end. So I asked if I could just pay cash for the drink so I could tip some cash. The women proceeded to roll her eyes at me. I quite honestly should of just left right then And there but I was going to try and not let it ruin our experience the first time. I myself am In the service industry! but this might explain why they don’t have higher ratings. You can’t have a rude, unpleasant bartender with a beautiful place like this that has so much potential it just sounds like they need nicer employees or people who actually want to be there. On a side note the gentlemen we closed out with was the redeeming quality, super friendly, nice and patient! Made the experience better for us. Unsure if we...
Read moreI am really sadden by my experience at Sugar Hill, however in order for the managers to reconsider and reflect on their handling of customers I truly have to express my experience here. This evening my friends and I went to Sugar Hill, because we have been here approx. 3 months ago and we truly loved it there. However, tonight we were not allowed entrance because of or international id's, that is our official national identification documents/passports? I was truly taken back by this, since we intentionally went back to Sugar Hill as we thought the place had a very welcoming, comfortable and inclusive atmosphere/environment. Also, as the bouncer has informed us, this was apparently a company's policy/rule? Which was honestly even more shocking for me, as these same documents allowed be entrance into the United States, but all of a sudden I can't enter a bar with them? This is truly and deeply upsetting and discouraging, and quite honestly disgraceful for the bar and its owners. I hope this was just a plain misunderstanding, although I doubt it actually was, and my advice for the owner would be to actually walk the talk that the bar displays on its...
Read moreI’m someone who does not post reviews. This place requires one. Was excited to try based on menu, vibe, and location on an otherwise fun block of Belmont. Started out with two security dudes at the door saying they needed to search our bags and a physical pat down of the only guy in our group. This is at 4:30 on a Saturday. We walk in to an empty bar where one bar tender is serving a customer, and two others are laughing and chatting with what seemed like a personal friend. They don’t acknowledge us and finally the one bartender frees up. We order three cocktails at ~$15 each. I had the Pandan Pina Colada - this turned out to be pre-mixed and tasted like I was drinking the flavored coconut syrup used on snow cones. As we’re paying at the bar, a man who I can only assume was the owner walks up and starts openly asking the other bar tenders how last night went and how much money they made. We go sit outside in a nice-ish patio and continue to be confused by the bro-ish staff and atmosphere in what we thought would be a cool retro bar. If we had been there at night during a more crowded time, I’d probably feel unsafe as a female...
