đ GOOGLE MAPS REVIEW: NEW YORK PIZZA BELMONT - THE "WHITE BOY" GREETING EXPERIENCE â 1/5 Stars
"When the Phone Answer Says More About the Cook Than the Food"
Just called this Belmont pizza spot and... wow. The guy answering the phone is absolutely something else.
Right off the bat, instead of "Hello, New York Pizza," I get hit with "Are you a white boy?" - which is definitely not the greeting you expect when you just want to order some pizza. Like, what kind of customer service training is that?
Then this dude casually drops that "black people can't be racist" line like he's some kind of self-appointed racial philosophy professor. Bro, I just wanted a large pepperoni, not a lecture on your half-baked social theories.
I tried ordering their apparent specialty - what I'm calling the "Believing Bias Pizza" - which seems to be loaded with contradictions thinner than their crust, topped with selective perception sauce, and a heavy drizzle of cognitive dissonance. The whole conversation felt less like ordering food and more like accidentally calling into some weird social experiment.
The reality check: When your pizza guy is more interested in customers' race than their pizza preferences, you know the priorities are all wrong. The irony of someone practicing discrimination while lecturing about discrimination was thicker than any pizza crust they could make.
Definitely got served a slice of awkwardness instead of actual pizza. Had to skip the order since the reality was too hard to digest.
Bottom line: If you want a side of uncomfortable racial commentary with your pie, this is apparently your place. But if you want actual pizza and normal customer service where they ask about toppings instead of your ethnicity? Maybe dial literally anywhere else in Portland.
Pro tip: There are plenty of other pizza places in the city where they greet you with "What can I get you?" instead of racial interrogation.
UPDATE: Still wondering if this is actually a pizza place or some kind of social justice performance art project. Either way, the reviews write themselves.
Would I recommend? Only if you enjoy being racially profiled while trying to order food. Otherwise, hard pass.
đ Location: Belmont District, Portland, OR Service: Racial profiling with a side of pizza Ambiance: Confusing social experiment Food Quality: Unknown - never made it past the phone screening
Final verdict: When the greeting process is more discriminatory than welcoming, maybe it's time to find a new pizza spot. Portland has hundreds of better options where they actually want to serve customers instead of interrogating them.

Read moreWe were here at 9:45 pm on Monday August 18. The Pizza was great & the lady that made it was an absolute angel! Very polite , god bless her soul. Unfortunately the same canât be said of the cashier / the rude stand offish curly haired woman taking our order who ruined the entire experience!
I am not one to post reviews , I have better uses of my time , Look up my profile - I probably would have had 4-5 in the past decade if not more. I need to have an exceptionally bad experience to take the time to write one of these !!
I donât know what is up with that curly haired lady taking the order & why she has so much attitude, but from the get go - When we first walked in - and were placing our order , she had a terrible attitude.
Then turns out 40 minutes in she forgot to relay the order to the person that actually makes the pizza (who is an absolute gem , professional & great at her job as previously mentioned)
When asked as to why the order was not put in , her response was forgot , donât want want your money - take your money in an aggressive tone ! Her exact words were - âJust take your money , I donât want to deal with this â
Mistakes happen, totally get it , but not a âsorry â could come out of her !! She is an absolute disgrace!!
If I were management and reading this , you should look out for more reviews specifically talking about the behavior of this one individual & maybe course correct as a business!!
Great food , but bad experience because...
Read moreWorst experience picking up pizza ever! I was visiting from Chicago and my brother said the pizza from this place was really good, so we came by and ordered a total of 5 pizzas, while I was ordering the pizzas the guy at the registered was not taking my order correctly, he seemed high or something, so I had to repeat the order twice and my brother had to confirm the order with him. They told us it would take an hour to make all of the pizzas including the wings and breadsticks, we said it was fine and waited in the store. When our pizza was ready they said the marinara sauce was in the box and that the salad that we also ordered, included the dressing inside. We got home and to our disappointment there was no marinara sauce and no dressing, and the pizzaâs were not what we ordered. I called this location and told them that they did not give us the condiments we ordered and that the pizzas were incorrect, the person on the phone said that I was mistaken and that they had also given us everything that I must have dropped it. I expected an easy response such as âcome pick up what youâre missingâ, but instead he gaslighted me. DONât VISIT THIS LOCATION IF YOU WANT GOOD CUSTOMER SEVICE AND A CORRECT PIZZA ORDER. Terribly...
