While the studio was clean, friendly, and cute, as a fellow yoga instructor, I cannot recommend the class taught by Jeannie. The teaching style is an out-dated Bikram yoga, and the way the instructor taught was dangerous to students. Please update your instructors to be well informed that everyone’s body, musculoskeletal system, and ability is different. No matter how someone looks, their body can be hiding and holding pain. Encouraging postures in a “one size fits all” modality is out-dated and quite frankly dangerous. Statements like "lock your legs," "stretch or push until it hurts," “you won’t get the full benefit until you do __” and making personal corrections are inappropriate, especially when a student has already expressed being injured. Yoga teachers should empower students to explore what feels good in their bodies, rather than pressuring them into achieving a specific form of a pose. Find modifications for your students!!! Not everyone can or should bend their spine back, have their toes touch, or try for full extension. I cannot recommend this class and I hope the studio provides teachers with updated training to foster a more inclusive, safe, and body-positive practice for...
