~I have been to almost every Grocery Outlet in the Portland area, including Gladstone/Milwalki, and I have received the best customer service at this location. MAX is the most amazing "manager" or as I rather say Leader I have met in the Portland area! If he wanted to be a regional leader he definitely deserves it, he provides Exceptional Customer Service every day! Most establishments in the Portland area stalk you and treat you like a thief if they think you look the least bit homeless, and that is not only uncool but unethical and unacceptable. I "managed" multiple Dollar Trees in the Portland area so I know all about theft and Asset Protection, even at Dollar Tree there are boundaries. Dollar Tree is horrible at following even their own rules though, let alone pratice good ethics and morals; horrible company to work for unless your an addict or felon, if It's your first job don't let them convince you to stay forever! My long dragged out point, unless someone has a backpack, giant purse, big half empty bags, big coats, and acting suspicious...then you have no reason to even keep an eye on that person/group. Key word Acting not Looking suspicious, judging off of looks is being prejudice! ~Even though I am homeless and this is known, Max still makes sure entire staff treats me with the same respect as everyone else. He however personaly treats me like his #1 customer because he knows I do in fact buy a lot there frequently, so he goes the extra mile to make sure the store stays stocked with what I love, acquires new items I have never seen that he knows I would love, and makes sure it is easy for me to find; I'm a Organic Vegan by the way. If he does ask if I need help with anything he asks with sincerity not as if to ask if I'm stealing. One time he even trusted me to exchange a giant jug of laundry detergent with a hole in it for another, around a $15 loss to his store. Most Wal-Marts would look at me like I'm a tweaker trying to pull a fast one. If you want to know how to give Exceptional Customer Service shadow MAD MAX for a day! MAD=Making A Difference ๐๐๐ ~Almost forgot, the staff is friendly and informative, they treat you like regulars, and the lines are always short and fast. Store stays stocked and the deals are always amazing! Save...
ย ย ย Read moreMy daughter and I went in to shop for some groceries today Thursday July 24 2025. And at approx 7:45pm one of the employees rammed a shopping cart forcefully into my rib cage and side just below my rib cage and knocked the wind out of me suddenly and unexpectedly without any warning that she was going to move my daughter and I cart into me or towards me for any purpose. This occurred in the check out stands narrow path. Neither my daughter nor I know this grocery store employee, nor have my daughter or I had any interactions with her in any way during any time before the stores employee rammed the cart into my rib cage and just below. We found the grocery outlets employee to lack the necessary skills to be in customer service and lacks the empathy and compassion to notify the customer of her intent to make space for her decent into the isle so that the customer could accommodate for her to enter into the isle if need be. This experience has never happened to me before in a grocery store environment from an employees lack of empathy and compassion for customers and guests so I was shocked to witness the behavior of the employee, . I find it especially concerning because the employee knows first hand how narrow the check out line path is since she works there and could obviously see that there was not enough room for her to descend into the isle nor enough space to forcefully move a cart in the direction of the customer without warning and or notice: of her intent to...
ย ย ย Read moreNot a super friendly store. Also there is no restrooms for customers. Im African american and i did not feel welcomed at this store. The lady with the blond curly hair kept staring at me up and down like I didnt belong there. I felt bad. I hair was done beautiful, my clothes are clean and im polite so why did she treat me like this? I felt on edge while I was walking around the store just off. Which sucks as I used to work there durning covid but left for better opportunities. Im now a social worker instead of a cashier.
Maybe it was my anxiety but I feel like this store isn't freindly towards minorities and that sucks. Also I shocked how expensive there items where compared to durning covid, they really didnt have a lot of good stuff, so that sucks. And I found a carton of moldy strawberries just sitting on the shelf and haven't been removed. The two Mexican gentlemen spoke to.me and where very polite and made feel welcomed. They are the only reason why I spent any money in this store tbh. The ace hardware lets you go to the restroom but I never heard of a store not letting their paying customers use the...
